I have copy of newspaper article about these misprinted $1 bills. I believe there were only 16 or less printed.

Dollar bills are printed in sheets of 32, so that is the minimum number there could be.
Having said that, a major error such as what you are describing would sell for $100 to $150 on eBay. It's a nice find - Congratulations.

Counting for inflation, a 1974 dollar is worth about 43 cents today.
