Hello I'd like to know how long you can work before you are legally allowed a break. Also how long do you have to work to have a long break, andhow long does this legally have to be?

Thanks

I would refuse to work more than three or four hours without a break and I would not care to much what the law said and I would have two ten minute breaks in the morning and afternoon and a full hour roundabout lunchtime particularly if I was doing a manual job. . I actually did it the other way for a while and it was not worth it. No breaks anti-productive no matter what managers say

This falls under the working time regulations. Check the Department for Trade and Industry website for further details.

The basic law states that you are entitled to 20 minutes rest break if you are working 6 hours or more in a block (need not necessarily be paid). The rest depends very much on your contract terms.

The rules as i remember them are if you work 6 hours you get a 20 min break, 8 hours is a 30 min break, 12 hours is a 1 hour break (This can be broken into 2 half hours so it complies with the 6 hour rule!)

It may have changed recently so i'd check with acas, the website is : http://www.acas.org.uk/

for every 4 hours worked you must have a 20min break....does no matter at which point within the 4 hours it is

Different rules apply if you are a young worker

You need to check out the ACAS website to see was relevant to you

It always used to be six hours work entitled you to a 20 minute (unpaid) break, but may have changed recently.

15 minutes break after 4 hours ... that's what I've been told in work..
