1) It is clear that counterfeit goods produced by slave labour are being dumped on our shores, in a deliberate attempt to destroy our native industry.
2) An enemy power is depressing its own currency to further distort our foreign trade.
3) A communist tyranny is expanding its power through bribery of countries near to us.
So, why are we trying to trade freely with that country if they show such bad faith?

We tend to have a one-sided view of these issues. The truth is that the US routinely violates a number of international trade agreements. Our agricultural subsidies, in particular, are a clear violation of several different accords, and are very similar to some of the very things for which we criticize China, Japan or France. There are also frequent suggestions that we penalize China for its human rights abuses, with which I sympathize. But employees of the US government have been indicted in Europe for kidnapping and torturing citizens of other nations, and our government has admitted that in some cases these people were innocent. Of course the contamination of toys and other products is scandalous, but keep in mind all the stories of people being poisoned by food grown and processed right here in the US.
International trade is complicated, which is why it takes so long for all these agreements to be negotiated. But the truth is that trade with China benefits the US at least as much as it does China, and we'll make more progress negotiating as friends than treating them as enemies.
