i grew some moonflower vines outside this past summer and was wondering if they could regrow in the winter. the root base is about 1 1/2 inch thick....it just seems so sad to have to tear all those vines down. but if they really wont regrow im gonna have to- they are on the front of the house.
so~~ is it possible for them to regrow or should i just tear them down?

Dances is correct (as usual, smart lady!) Datura is an annual. Save seeds for next year. Careful with the spiney pods. Pull out the dead growth for aesthetic reasons.

Unfortunately, moon flowers are pretty much annuals; once the vines are gone, the plant is pretty much history. However, they're VERY easy to grow from seed. I'd suggest getting a packet from a reputable company like Burpee or Northrup-King and planting again next spring. That does have the advantage of allowing you to know exactly what cultivar you're getting. I'd just remove the vines that you have now after they've withered, and start fresh next spring.

In zone 4-5 I've seen them come back for several years. I think they drop seeds & regrow in the spring because they are not supposed to be hardy here. If you want to give that a chance, clean up the bed but throw back any signs of flowers.
Good luck they are beautiful

It depends on what zone you live in. I live in zone 8 and during mild winters they survive and come back in the spring.
Mulch them and depending on your location they could come back.
