The American people do not hate Russia, or the Russian people, yet communism is despised.

americans (and the rest of the west) have been taught to hate russia and communism, without really knowing what either of them are.
'communist' is just used when people mean 'totalitarian' or 'inhumane'; due to american cold war propaganda (yes i did just say that), and also a lot of brutal regimes flying a red flag (stalin, pol pot, even hu jintao), the words have become synonymous.
people only know what they are told, unless they choose to find out more, unfortunately most don't . i don't think americans are pushed to hate russia as much as they were, when they were 'communist'. for some reason, the russia of today is meant to be some great triumph or something, because it's capitalist...ya right. but, it's the way the world works, and the way america works.

I don't think people hate Russia as we have moved away from the cold war. Also, I think people hate communism as a knee-jerk reaction, even if they don't know much about it. We were taught that communism is evil, but I bet if you ask a lot of people what it is, they can't even tell you.

that is a left over from the cold war days ,america has always been fighting comunism until we started going that way our selves .russia is no longer a communist country there for no longer our enemy

Many (not all) Russians I meet are rude and callous. I think that communism is a good theory but it fails in practice due to corruption.

We dont hate Russia, we hate Russia when there communists. Yes I think I would hate people who mass murder thei civilians and terrify the world using nuclear weapons
