I've been disabled for 3 years. After the first 6 months, I lost my job, and insurance. Since then I have had no prescription coverage. Due to lack of prescription coverage, I have not been able to buy my medications. I have a disability hearing coming up, and need to know if not taking my medications, for not being able to afford them, will affect my being able to get my disability. If so, what can I do to have a positive outcome at social security disability hearing.

I have not been able to take my medicine because I couldn't afford to buy them. Will this affect the outcome of my disability hearing? If it won't affect the outcome, why does lawyer want a copy of my prescriptions from pharmacy?

It is something they consider when deciding on your claim. You will first have to provide them with how much your prescriptions are and show proof of any money you may have spent on filling any of them. Your doctors have records of what is prescribed to you and how often you are instructed to take your medications but they don't have any records of how much any of them cost you. Talk to the Social Security office about what they need in order to consider this problem and make sure to provide what they ask for. They can still turn you down and refer you to the local Medicaid office for assistance though. It happened to me just that way. It is the usual for Social Security to turn down disability claims a couple of times before you actually get acceptance, however. So don't give up if they say no. Just keep applying and ask your doctors for the extra back up. Good luck!

Get your medication sent to you for free. Go to this site: https://www.pparx.org/ Every pharmaceutical company has its own criteria; so even if you make a little too much income, go ahead and look at each medications application form to know for sure. It even paid for Viagra. After your doctor signs the form, the medication will usually come to the doctor's office or a coupon will be sent to you. The coupons will pay for the drugs at most pharmacies.

Disability Panels only look at the reasons you are filing. You really need an attorney to help get your case won. Many of these work for a percentage of the award. Not many people get their disability approved on the first try. They don't care about your financial status.

If you are having trouble with the cost of your prescriptions, speak with your doctor.
Many drug companies have programs designed to assist people just like you.
Sure, there may be forms to fill out and papers to shuffle, but it might get you your meds free.
Ask your doctor. Also, check this website.
