I'm fairly new to coding- I know basic HTML, but I want to go on to CSS, Java, and all that and make databases. I've heard mixed reviews about Visual Basic and am not sure about which to get, and what type will train me. There was one I had awhile ago with video-training as an additional download. (It was all free) But I want something that will bring me to a higher level...

Dreamweaver is the standard right now. It's a little pricey, but it's worth it. You can download a free trial at adobe.com.

I THEENK you're talking about several things, (1) which language to learn, (2) which software to get, to teach it to you, and (3) which software to get, to help you create web pages.

For (3) my answer is, if you want to create web pages interactively without having to learn the "nuts and bolts" of a language, then the traditional top-of-the-line and danged expensive but well-worth-it is Dreamweaver.

If you want to go in and write nuts and bolts languages and tinker hard core and type every danged open-paren and close-brace and colon and period and all that then:
(a) for free, get notepad++ at http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net
...or
(b) for just a bit of bucks, but well worth it, get WeBuilder at http://www.blumentals.net

Use Apache/PHP/MySQL. Might learn some JavaScript, too.
