It depends on your state...and if you already have a college degree of some sort.
Most states will let you start teaching with a bachelor's degree in education & another major (teachers have to double major). Depending on the additional major, you should be able to earn your BA in 4 years.
Some states require a master's degree, which can be anywhere from 1-3 years in addition to your bachelor's degree. However, some states (NY for example) will let you start teaching while you are working on your Masters.
If you have a bachelor's degree in something other than education, and are switching careers to become a teacher you have 2 options. The first is to go for your teaching certification which takes about a year, with 1 semester of student teaching.
The second option is to get your Master of Arts in Teaching. This is a master's degree for people who do not have a previous degree in education. Some colleges offer it part-time which could take about 3 years, or full time in about a year to 18 months.
The Master of Arts in Teaching degree program takes about as long as a regular certification program, but covers more information (methods of teaching, psychology, etc) and puts you up a pay scale for when you start teaching.

It depends. There are programs that allow you to get your undergrad and license in 5 years (or a bit less if you take more classes at a time and go in the summer) and then you can add another 2 years for the Masters if you are planning on teaching in a public school most will require your masters within 10 years of getting your undergrad.
If you want to teach in a college setting you will need your Masters and most places will require you have your Doctorate or are seeking it.

Usually you take regular college courses (4 years)get your bachelor's degree in Education. Then you have to take tests in the state you live in order to get your teacher accreditation. Then you have to look for a job, the first 5 years are the hardest, but once you get tenure they your in for the rest of your life. if you choose. If you want to teach young kids like kindergarten level you only need an ECE (Early Childhood Education) and I think that is 2 years.

You would need a four year bachelors degree and additional graduate credits. It should take at least five years. You will get paid extra money in most school districts for additional classes beyond what was indicated above.
