hello just bought a gsx600f with 23,000 for 600 bucks i expected that there would be work needed on the bike so the prob is i cant run it with the choke off it has to be fully on if i move the lever at all the bike shuts down i noticed with the choke fully on it only runs at about 3000rpm unlike my other bike a shadow 600 wich will run at like 4-5000rpm when the choke is on do i need to adjust the idle screw if so where is that located or should i go ahead and do a rebuild thanks

If it wont run with the choke off,,
odds are most likely you need to dismantle the carbs and clean them.

Idle jets particularly.

Doesn't sound like a bad deal for $600,,
Any kind of "start & run" is always a good sign.

warm the motor then keep the revs at about 2,500 while slowly taking the choke off.if it runs without choke on throttle then adjust the idle.if it wont run off choke then the mixture is to lean.check all your mounting rubbers and pipes for iar leaks,cracking etc.if its been standing for a while take the jets out of the carbs and blow them out with a good airline.

Try turning up the idle.
Left side of the carbs, under the float bowl, with a large knob.
Otherwise the carbs need cleaning.
