I personally don't like the idea of having a tracking device on my i.d.

as of 5/11/2008..the government is implementing the real ID act. and states have until 2009 to comply. those who don't will not be considered citizens of the US and will have no rights...Many states are boycotting. N.C is already using them as of 12/2006

I just renewed my driver's licence and it's good until Dec 31, 2013. Hopefully this stupid law will be repealed by then and I will never have to carry a RFID chip on me. If it is still in effect by then, I will disable the chip by any means possible

What concerns me is that putting the chips on ID cards is that it will be a huge waste of money. Anyone who wants to avoid detection can simply shield the card or not carry it at all. It's just one more attempt for our government to try to look like they are doing something to make the country safer when, in fact, they are doing practically nothing at all.

You use an Arab financed site to back up your question? Now that's funny.

I think it's a great idea. If you're doing something that is illegal or you are in a place where you shouldn't be, then you deserve what you get. It's a deterrent for Illegal immigrants and terrorists. If you are in with them, I hope you are caught and put behind bars for the rest of your life if you're not then you have nothing to worry about.

Um?

I know something about the chip, but nothing about that deadline. My concern with the chip that broadcasts is that it will make it awfully easy for identity theft to occur. (Think of those fake 'computer hot spots' set up to steal credit card data.) I'm not up on other issues with it.
