I have. When I was a teenager, I was a member of summer theatre schools and one year we entered the Houghton Feast (a big deal in the North East) float competition, we got most professional float - not surprising really, the theatre concerned was The Empire Theatre in Sunderland ... our only professional one.
That Christmas, we repeated it and escorted Windsor Davies and Don Estelle (and Santa) round to Joplings (Sunderland's own 'upmarket' department store) to promote the pantomime that year, which was Cinderella .. we all got free tickets for that and other shows (Dad wouldn't let me go to see 'Fur Coat and No Knickers' for some reason)
In case you're wondering, I was an ugly sister on the float.

Ah the late Don Estelle, bless his cotton socks.
I actually went on a float when I was with the scouts, it was for an event called The Winslow Show (Winslow is a very small town that I lived at back then). We all dressed up as characters from Star Wars. I was Lando Calrissian so I had to get "blacked up" which, like the show Don Estelle and Windsor Davies were in, isn't considered very politically correct now - but heck I was only 9 at the time!

Yes, I have! In 7/8th grade we made a float with the theme as The Old Lady who Lived in a Shoe. We all dressed up from children from different cultures.

Yes, I have....a few times when we were children. On the island where we spend our summers, they had an annual parade, and we used to take part when my brothers and I were much younger....in my aunt's rusty old Datsun pickup truck! Sadly, the truck is no more....I think the parade has been resurrected....but we don't take part any more.
