Hi Tony America's team is the Dallas Cowboys. They receive that name from a producer that made a movie about them. In order to make this movie he had to travel to the away games. In every state people were Dallas fans, they wore caps jerseys if it was made they wore it. So he decided to call it America's team and it just stuck. Their coach said no at first to the America's team. He felt it would cause controversy with other fans. Jealousy etc, etc, etc, and he was right. Even though most people have knowledge of this they still hate them. Cowboys have the largest fan base in America and International. Win or lose their fans never desert them. I have been a fan for 16 years coming up on 17 when the season starts. People mostly hate them for their greatness 12 years ago lol. I know that sound stupid but its true, they won five Superbowl's and is on their way to 6 do some research on them you won't regret it.

New-England Patriots.

There is no such thing.
Dallas assumed the name during the 1970's and tried to use it as an edge when Pittsburgh slapped them in two different Super Bowls.
New England has the name Patriots but that meant nothing until they were winners.
The Steelers have Steelers Nation which is the largest fan base across the country.
This is fact.
NFL Films did a documentary on it in 2006.
The Steelers fans constantly over take stadiums of teams they play on the road or at least have a huge section in the teams that have solid followings.
There are more Steelers fan clubs nationwide then anyother.

The sport writers back in the 60's pinned that name on the Cowboys, because of the number of Cowboy fans in the stands no matter where they played,Now why would you want to STEEL that nickname from it's original owners? if you do,then everyone will say "The Steelers Are Not Who We Think They Are"

Defintely the Pittbirgh Steelers could not agree more. Their dynasty with Franco Harris, Terry Bradshaw, Big Joe Greene is what football is really about. Hardcore hitting. If you watched their Monday night game against the Ravens when James Harrison laid out Ed Reed on a kickoff retuen or punt (forget which) that shows how hard they hit. The true meaning of football orginated from Pittburgh and it should stay like that. Football is all about contact, and thats what the Steelers are al about with their defense and offense! GO STEELERS!!!!

The Cowboys are referred to as "America's Team" because they have the most fans and the largest overall fan-base in the country. It isn't because of anything else.

Personally the Packers have some kind of overall aura about them if you look at their history, and when they won the first Superbowl ever played against the Chiefs, and Lambou Field and all that. They were coached by Vince Lombari who the Superbowl trophy is named after as well.

The Steelers are obviously a candidate too because they do represent Pittsburgh and how it used to be the "steel" city. They are hardworking and smashmouth, which is supposed to represent their citizens as well. They also had that stint where they won various Superbowls with Bradshaw and Franco and the rest of them.

Since when do foreigners call us cowboys all the time. I thought they called us Yankees, even if we're from the south.

I don't know if you could pick one.....

Green bay has the smallest market in the NFL, and the most loyal fans ever seen (70,000 on the season ticket waiting list!)...They are a class organization, and have perennially been so.Home to Lombardi....If I had to pick, it would be them...
