I use the dictionary all the time, to check on meanings or spelling. I wish more people would use it. The English Language is becoming a lost art. This day and age, schools have to be more worried about security and safety for the students than they are about teaching vital subjects.

Last week. My husband and I keep five dictionaries in our apartment (a very small apartment) along with our 17 different translations of the Bible and 'Origins - The Encyclopedia of Words' and I am constantly grabbing a dictionary to look up a word ... even if it's a familiar word, I sometimes want to know that it's the correct word, or exactly what it means in that context ... but I do have to tell you that we've both been sick this last week, so I haven't been answering as many questions, and the book I'm reading is one by an author I'm well familiar with (Neil Gaiman) so I don't need nor want to open that dictionary (it comes in two volumes).

French to English dictionary? Yesterday, about an hour 9:07. It kinda opened while I was throwing it at Rich's head. Just a regular Eglish dictionary? Not since eighth grade [I'm a sophomore in high school now]. I needed to find out how to spell a word while doing a reading project only to find that the word wasn't even in there. So that confused me and I started looking up some other words that might have fit [which I still wasn't entirely sure on ow to spell] only to dicover *gasp* they're not in there either! So needless to say, it annoyed me -- alot. So I sat down, flipped to the a's and literally read the entire dictionary, cover to cover, growing more and more angry as I discovered how many flippen words I was partial to using, that weren't included! So I've been on strike against dictionaries since then. haha. You could even ask my friends and they could attest to this fact.

Yup, during dinner with a friend about a year ago when he argued with me about the meaning of 'superfluous'.

I used to use the dictionary all the time to look up words, but now I know them all...my dictionary actually has a name...Webby II...and lots of little dots all over on the words I've looked up in the last 20 years...the original Webby was worn to tatters and discarded 20 years ago when the binding finally fell off...

About 5 minutes ago...I always forget that I have spell check on this thing...so just out of habit, I pick up the dictionary. I don't like to misspell, I think people tend to not take you serious when things are out of the norm., especially here in Yahoo!

May be seven months ago, helping Japanese. They were not understanding violation. Although knowing the meaning, you go to dictionary to get easy words.

Have you ever done so?
