I want to be a social worker, and plan to go to uni next year, but am confused about the diploma and a degree, can someone please tell me the difference, and which one is best.

What is the difference in the workload too?

Well in UK at least, a diploma is less than a degree, a degree you need to usually get after a diploma, just to qualify, and usually at a university, a diploma you can get at college, or sometimes even school. In USA you get a diploma just for leaving school but it is what UK would class as a level 2 diploma, which is equal to about 4-5 GCSE's I think, The diploma can be level A, B, C, D, E, F, G, U Just like UK, and that is roughly what the GCSE level would be. But a degree can be achieved at a college in USA, as far as I know, and also a university, there isn't much difference between a diploma and a degree in USA, but in UK, degree is a lot higher

OK a diploma is the lowest level bachelor is the lowest degree, then masters, PHD adn so on.. A diploma can get you a lower job. A degree is offical and can get you a job straight up - I think. I'm from Australia and this is asically how it works here. I'd really suggest calling colleges and universities instead of asking on the internet - that way your answer will be totally right. hope this helps

You should be able to get a ceritificate after one year at uni, a diploma after your second year and a degree if you complete all three study years.

If you are in the UK, the DipSW qualification is inferior to the BA degree in social work and there is to be a phasing out of the diploma.

A diploma is of a short duration while degree is of a longer duration offered in detail by universities/colleges.The diploma is normally offered by any poly technical institutes even in native language. However some use both the terms intermittently. Nowadays even universities offer short duration courses mostly skill oriented. If one is financially well off,it is better to opt for degrees.

A diploma is a certificate issued by an educational institution, such as a university, that testifies that the recipient has successfully completed a particular course of study, or confers an academic degree.

Degree only states your level of knowledge in an academic subject. ie: bachelors, masters, phd

Workload is the same. Just depends how far your willing to study.

i diploma is lower than a degree and i think you can take it in college.
a degree is what employers look for rather than diploma's
and after an undergraduate degree you go on to post graduate and then masters phd etc

The difference is probably about $25-30K per year when you get out.

Go for the degree.
