Simplify the two binomials.
Take a 6 out of the first one and 2 out of the second..
This leaves you with:
6(y-3) / 2(y-3)
The (y-3)s cancel out, and you're left with 6/2.
Your answer is 3

Factor the 6 out of the numerator and the 2 out of the denominator, and then see where you are.

(In fact, what's left over just cancels to 1, and the simplified answer is just "3"!)

first, you simplify the like terms (in this case: 6y, 2y and 18, 6)
you'll get 3y - 2/ y -1... that's the answer i guess...

6y - 18 / 2y - 6 (/2)
3y - 8 / y - 3 (-y)
2y -8 / -3 (+8)
2y/5

hope that helps!

(6y-18)/(2y-6) = 3(2y - 6) / (2y-6) = 3
