Here is what i know: the government of Sudan has been at war with southen Sudan tribes for years(i think in the early 80s) south Sudan stood their ground against this but they warned the people in Darfur that they could be next ,well the people in darfur did not listen and stood by and watched for years all the sudden the government turn on the people there and that's when the current situation started.

It's argued that the Chinese are arming the current ruling faction and the West arming the rebels. The instability is preventing Chinese completion of their oil infrastructure.
