I'm pickier now that I'm older and I can't imagine sleeping on one now. Do people still use them? Do you have a funny story related to a water bed? I remember being pregnant and climbing out of bed was a huge ordeal.

I haven't slept on one in a very long time -

My brother had one while he and I were roommates, and one Thrusday night he came home (his job required him to be gone Monday - Thursday) and later crawled into bed. About an hour later, I heard a frustrated AUUUGH and he storms out to the living room, his back all wet. My cat had apparently claimed the waterbed as his own, and with the cat's claws....it wasn't a perfect match.

We had a queen size water bed for years. We liked the pedestal with the 6 drawers on each side. We dumped the water mattress and kept the rest. We have a regular queen mattress in the frame now. No dust bunnies to clean up underneath.
My son had a twin size water bed and bought a new mattress. He hooked the hose from outside to fill it and went to watch TV and fell asleep. You'd be surprised how big those water mattresses can get! I was surprised it hadn't exploded!

yes, slept ? ( I use the term very lightly here) on one for about 6 months....constant back ache, sloshing all night long, and...well, there are some activities on beds that water beds are just not designed for...someone is going to be sea sick before it is over! I think they have been replace by the "Sleep Number Bed" ... a nice way of saying...inflatable air mattress. What a bunk! Has anyone notice just how tired Lindsay Wagner looks in that commercial? She looks like she hasn't slept in weeks...now I have heard of casting couches, but a Sleep number bed to get a job???? I don't think so. :-) Goldwing!

We had one for years. It was a king size with baffles in the mattress so it did not slosh around. My husband was out of town on business and when I vacuumed in the bedroom I bumped the heater under the bed and disconnected it. I noticed the bed was not as warm that night. I looked at the heater, but the light was on so I knew it was plugged in. The next night was even cooler and the next cold. I had to sleep on the couch till my husband came home and checked it out. Turns out the heater was plugged into the wall outlet alright, but disconnected from the mattress itself. It still took a few days to heat back up. Good thing the couch made out into a bed.

We had one for a couple of years. But first we bought a brand
new mattress and box with the pillow top. At the store, we
both agreed that was the perfect model for us. But after we'd
used it for a couple of nights, my hubby said it still wasn't
giving him a decent nights sleep due to his back. And he
started sleeping on the couch. Well a friend of his said he
wanted to sell his fairly new water bed and go back to a
standard mattress. So he decided to trade, after he'd talked
to me about it. I worried it wouldn't work out for me, since I
had always gotten sea sick or car sick when I was a kid. But
we made the trade. And after one night, hubby said he
couldn't handle that it wasn't firm enough. So there I was now
stuck with a water bed, whether I could comfortably sleep on
it or not. We even hauled it down to Arizona with us so I'd have a bed once we got there. We'd sold most everything
else in furniture but that. We got another couch, but hubby
still slept there, and I used the water bed, which by then I
had gotten used to. It was always a pain to get out of it in
the morning. I had to pump the side next to me to build a
hump under me and boost myself up and over the ridge.
Today I couldn't do that, if you paid me. due to back problems I now have. LOL. But for then it was what I had to do, or lay in bed all day LOL. And often hubby was around
to give me a pull out, when I needed it. Our grandson was
living with us for awhile then, and he loved the water bed.
He went to sleep as soon as his head hit the pillow. But I
had to wait til the water movement stopped before I could
find sleep. I never knew if my inner ears were giving me
trouble, or if it was that darned waterbed that kept me
moving after I relaxed. I'm sure glad we don't have one now.
That two years was enough for us. And now we sleep in
recliners for our back troubles. We're starting a new trend.

Well, I don't have a water bed of my own. I once slept in one at my cousin's house a long time ago. As far now, these type of beds creep me out. I remember watching Freddy Kreuger, Nightmare On Elm Street. This guy actually died from his own water bed. I believe people still use them. If they make them, you will have to find this out on your own.

I sold waterbeds in the late 80's.They were extremely popular.I used to own the type that looked like a regular mattress but had a shallow water bladder inside. Now I sleep on a pillowtop regular mattress.

My husband's cousin once had a water bed. She offered it
to us to sleep on. Hubby, of course, went right to sleep.
I tossed and turned and the movement of the waterbed
sloshing around made me feel seasick. So I got out of that bed and went to sleep in the study on the sofabed. The cat had slept on it unbeknownst to me, and since I am
allergic to cats, I sneezed and wheezed all night. I don't
know which was worse.

I had one. The old type one.....not the new waveless. I was married to a 6'2'' guy that weighed 220.....I was 5'2'' and 90 lbs. I can't tell you how many times I was unintentionally tossed to the floor from the wave of him simply getting into bed or having a restless night. I never got the thrill myself.......it was dangerous. LOL

I lived with a boyfriend once who had one....it was wonderful for his back, but miserable for me. Too hot, for one thing. Plus, I'm an insomniac, and I had the added stress of being afraid to move because I didn't want to wake him up.

Funny story though...I brought our cat home from the vet once. She had had a minor procedure done, and was really doped up. Since the waterbed was kind of her "comfort zone", I set her on it, figuring she could sleep until she felt better. Instead, she got up and tried to walk around, but kept falling over and staggering. It was hilarious. :D
