nope... I think you might be thinking of 'gypsum' not lime... lime will only change the pH of the clay from acid to neutral/base...... gypsum, tho, won't really do much unless your clay is sodic... as in alkaline.... already.... best move to break up clay is to add compost... LOTS of compost.... composted manure is good, too.... if you put all those loads of clay in the yard, you'll need twice that of compost to get it workable and grow-worthy.....

Lime might help but I'm curious why you didn't haul in top soil to cover the clay? RScott

to break down clay, add organic matter.. compost, leaves, pine needles, mulch, etc.
