I know of women, who are very smart but are either married or engaged to guys who are way down on the intelligence scale.
In one case, the man sustained permanent brain damage. He lost the ability to learn new things and process new information. He can only watch re-runs and old movies that he's already seen. If it's new he can't track the story. He has a tendency to get easily frustrated and overreact to stress. This is related to his brain injury. It makes him difficult to deal with. The woman is a computer scientist and can handle some really complex tech problems. She chose to marry a brain-damaged guy.
I know another woman who is engaged to a guy that she admits isn't so smart. She figures that when she finishes her master's degree, she'll be able to pull in some cash and it won't matter that he'll never move up the financial ladder.
What qualities could these guys have that very smart women find attractive? Do these women have a need to take care of someone?

In the first case, the guy is hard to deal with. I'm guessing that he's as complicated as a computer system and maybe keeps her intellectually stimulated.
In the second case, this woman has rejected similar guys because "He's just too stupid to talk to. It annoys me!"
