tell me Apart from plugging it in, what I have to do to charge the batteries? I am useing it to type this so it works ok but I have it plugged in to the power. I know that the batteries are good because it worked until the batteries run out. Is there a button or something that I have to press? I am a bit stupid so bear with me. I have a wireless router, does this affect it in any way? Help and thanks

Once you plugged in the power, the batteries will automatically charge as long as they work. Though sometimes, if you are using a non Dell branded charger, the batteries will refuse to charge so make sure your charger is from Dell.

Other than that, nothing else should effect your batteries from charging.

You say this is a second hand computer, then the battery is probably not able to hold a charge anymore. Most laptop batteries only last about 12-18 months before they stop working. Replace the battery.

Your router has absolutely nothing to do with your laptop power.

On mine I get a tiny Red light that illuminates to signify its charging. This same light flashes, with a message to tell you when the batteries are running low

on most dells when you boot go into cmos press f11 ( i think on most dell systems) look there if it says full batteries, then you shall need to replace them if you can't boot without being plugged in as most people have said when you plug your laptop into the mains it automatically charges.

Anytime you have the power adapter connected to the laptop, it should be charging.
No switches, no keys to hit... it *should* just work.
