It would be nice if more intelligent rational questions were now posted. It would make it more enjoyable to participate again on a regular basis.

I have been doing some research on this topic of bogus violations and it appears that some cheating has been going on. Point gaming and negative point gaming. People with several accounts voting for their own best answer and people that are "friends" outside of Yahoo giving each other best answers.
I don't really see any real way to stop it.
All in all I think the best thing to do is participate in YA with the knowledge that some of the top contributors are cheats and many answers are just opinions.
Use your best judgment for the correct answer because you can't trust the voting.
Watch out for people who have accumulated massive points and percentage of best answers in a short period of time.
Personally I come here for entertainment mostly. It's the best show in town. There are only a handful of posters who actually give informed answers, the rest are merely opinions. Most frequent questioners are only searching for opinions that match theirs anyway and seeking to inflame other users. I have been here for quite a while and I have seen many users come and go, left and right doesn't matter.
Last but not least. People here on YA need to be more careful about letting their questions go into voting...that's where the cheats are getting the most points. When someone takes the time to give a nice thoughtful answer the questioner should be more responsible about selecting a best answer.

who are you calling trash, specifically? I'd love to see a list of names.

I may not have agreed with some of those people on political issues but believe it or not, we respect each other as people. Which is a lot more than I can say for the sniveling can't-take-a-joke people who abuse the report button and who are still here.

Despite what some people may have you believe, this place is for people to voice their opinions on issues. Considering many a question asked on here asks "how do you feel about this issue?". I believe the answer to that would be an opinion, not a fact.

If you want clarification on something before you hit the report button, many of us do have an email option off our Y!A homepages. Just click and ask, "What exactly did you mean by this?" and I'm sure the person you're emailing will have a polite response for you.

So no, this place is no longer for the intelligent and knowledgeable. It's for the sensitive, wishy-washy babies who want to give best answer to someone who agrees with them, rather than someone who truly puts some thought into their answers.

Not likely.
I had my account suspended about 6 months ago by trolls reporting supposed abuse after having been in the forum about a year. I have just now returned with this new account after a 6 month absence. A lot of old users are gone, but the level of foolishness has not changed much.
You can't kill a troll. They just keep going and going.

If you're referring to the accounts that were deleted, it doesn't really affect me. I appreciate reading both sides of the issues. Sometimes this category is difficult because some of the posters are so ill-informed and angry. It gets old real fast and both sides are guilty of it. Many of us like to read well thought out questions and answers.

Not likely.

I would never call the left who have been suspended "trash". It says a lot about those who extend the title to the right as well. There is no reason to dismiss fellow human beings in such a low class manner.

They will just change their names and come back. I doubt any IP bans were given.

The only reason why all the conservatives have been getting suspended is because "tolerant" liberals can't handle the truth.

Sadly it will turn into a stinking pit of naive liars patting themselves on the back because they agree Bush is Hitler and bombed WTC.
