I quit several years ago, I just kept trying and one time it took. I am so sad that a sweet dear beloved friend did not quit and she is now terminal with lung cancer, it breaks my heart, she has always been one of the dearest human beings and now she is doomed. Less than a year to live. Heartbreaking.

I quit in 1991. I quit because I felt the need to--but the desire and need HAVE to come from within yourself. You can't make somebody quit and they can't want to quit for their spouse or kids, or whoever. They have to want to quit for them self. If they don't, they won't be able to or, if they do, they won't stay quit for long.

Do you not understand what a deep addiction it is? The nicotine is completely out of your body in 72 hours--but the psychological hold that cigarettes have on you remains and it is this hold that keeps people from being able to stay quit. Even all these years later I still, on occasion, crave a cigarette. The craving certainly isn't as bad as it used to be, and I know that I have an addictive personality so I know better than to ever try another one--I would be back up to my old 4-5 pack a day habit within a week!

So the reason people won't quit? Because they are addicted and can't.

Alot of smokers don't want to quit usually,it is a non smoker suggesting a smoker to quit,or thinking they want to quit.

YOU should quit while you can still repair some of the damage already DONE.

I don't smoke but I think that people should stop trying to get people to quit. None, of your business.

Yes I smoke, No I wont quit because it is habitual for me and plus I don't want to gain weight. If I knew for sure that I wouldn't gain weight I would consider trying to quit.

No, I don't smoke and never have. Why would I waste my money on cancer sticks?

Yes I do. I won't quit just because that is what is trendy right now. And I refuse to give in to the though police telling me what to do.
