Why would we want two states to be alike? To be united does not mean to be similiar. My family is full of very different people and personalities. We all have different priorities, hopes, needs we are united anyway for the common good. Although I do agree that at this time it does not seem our country is very united on anything. But if you think back to the few days after 9/11, we were united when the poop hit the fan.
ADD: Wow I just read some of the other answers. Can't figure out why there was any anger...... It was a thought provoking question with no blame or ranting.....Geez!!!

I totally Agree with you!
Many of the people here in the US are against the USA themselves! I believe they along with all the immigrants and others need to leave! PUT UP THE BORDERS AND LEAVE THEM UP!!
