I have lots which I started when my kids were babies--such as we open a gift the night before, I buy new pajamas for everybody, we go to a certain friend's house for Christmas Eve, we do not wrap "santa" gifts, we have baked apple french toast for breakfast. stuff like that.

Yeah, ever since TBS started showing 24 hours of A Christmas Story every Christmas eve, my family has had a rule about it. "You have to watch A Christmas Story at least twice that day." On the 24th, that's the only thing on the television all day.

I have about three for the Winter Solstice season.

One I began 60 years ago.
I set little plastic human figures and trees around a small mirror covered around the edges with white clot so it will look like a frozen lake.

The second is to set pine cones and Christmas balls, small ones, into baskets or dishes or wooden or straw containers around the living room. I began that about 35 years ago.

The third is to go ad look at stores late in the season, just to see all the decorations. That one is also 58 years old by now and going strong; we even drive around to look at other people's lights.

My family changes the traditions while we are growing up. We used to spend the holiday with my grandparents and now it's just my mum, my dad, my brother and his girlfriend and of course me, watching Home Alone!

It's one of the few times in the year when we actually stay together and spend the time at home.

My family always eats oyster soup for Christmas morning breakfast. We have since I was a small kid. Don't know the reason why, and I hate the stuff, but do it, anyway.
