You need to find a part-time job. There are a lot of part-time jobs out there. You just need to really look for it. I don't think you can work in an office because those are full time jobs. Maybe you can try to work part time at retail stores or restaurants, etc. I think what makes it hard for you to find a job is because you can only start working at 8:30AM. A lot of places require you to work from 5 or 6AM in the morning. One of my friends work at this coffee place. She works 5AM to 10AM Monday to Friday, if I am not mistaken. Don't lose hope, keep looking for it. If you can be a bit flexible on the timing then that would be even better.

well i was going to say prostitute but...Why not work at a different school or even your kids' school? My mom works at the cafeteria of a high school with the 8:30 to 2:30 schedule that you're talking about. I'm sure you can find a job in the cafeteria of any school (With good pay too).

I would definitely look into clerical/office work. I worked those same exact hours while I was in college. A lot of offices only need part time employees to help them with things like filing, transcribing, etc. I know it's not glamorous, but I was making $16/hr doing that and it was not stressful at all. Good luck...oh, and don't forget to check out Craigslist.com...maybe you could search under "administrative assistant," or "office assistant."

Bankers don't usually have free time until after 4.
I am studying to be a teacher. I have kids too, and that certainly fits their schedule!
Entrepreneurship is always a good call, as long as you remember the "2 to 3 Rule". Estimate before any endeavor the amount of time and money it will take to accomplish it. Now, double the amount of time, and triple the amount of money. This is a closer estimate to the amount of time and money required for your endeavor.
Good luck

Unfortunately the children are most likely the reason you are having difficulty finding a job. Mothers are notorious for needing to tend to their children and are therefore seen as risky employees. It's too bad really because Mom's need to work ! There are jobs with mother's hours in fast food and grocery. Don't give up and hopefully you will find something soon!
Good Luck!!

I had a telemarketing job that was 9-2.
You could always put a classified in the paper.
State that you are looking for part time work, and list your abilities.
Other ideas, would be Avon, work from home.

Unfortunately those are the hours when most businesses aren't busy, so don't hire many people. This would be particularly true for retail and for restaurant work.
Some part-time office jobs might allow those hours.
Good luck.
