duh
Everyone knows al qaeda was in Iraq pre 9-11. Only an absolute moron would think that they somehow avoided one country in the middle east.
Regarding stars & stripes poll. Troops were talking about fighting al qaeda NOW not iraqis.
gee Do you need a secret decoder ring?

No one ever claimed that Saddam was responsible for 9/11. Just that he had links to Al Qaeda, had weapons of mass destruction and hated America. All of these things were believed to be true. The reason given for going into Iraq was to get very dangerous weapons out of the hands of a state sponsor of terrorism. Some people are pretty simple-minded. They cannot comprehend complex situation so they simplify them in their minds into terms that are easier to understand. They hear terrorism and Iraq and just think Iraq did 9/11. They are idiots. Whether these are conservatives who accept this as truth or liberals who believe that Bush is telling this as a lie, they are all morons who are not hearing what is actually being said. This falls back to the old South Park axiom, "25% of the people are retarded." And another 50% are not very bright.

some say this is old news but that's been said so many times about so many things and while it's true the fact remains that BushCo has dodged accountability for all this. Just because one can dodge the issue long enough doesn't mean that it's still not an issue. I want to see some accountability from the whitehouse yet their response is that there was a general consensus about WMD and Saddam. But even when the truth was revealed about these things Bush still clung to them as if they were gospel. The bottom line is that GWB wanted a reason to invade Iraq and he grabbed false claims and created some of his own. If he really was sincere about making those responsible to pay then we would have first turned to the countries from which the terrorists came from, although, somehow, they have since become our allies. Having read some of the other posts I am in awe how the attitude of some is that "he lied but so did many other politicians" by that reasoning we should empty the prisons because well, yes they committed crimes but so did many others, so I guess that should make it okay. Well it's NOT OK! If someone lies to further their own agenda then they need to be brought to accountability for it, if we failed to do it in the past that isn't permission for others to do the same. Have we lost sight of what's right and wrong to the point that anything is now okay?

Stars and Stripes reported on a poll conducted in 2006 that found that 85% of the troops in Iraq believed a major reason they were sent into war was “to retaliate for Saddam’s role in the Sept. 11 attacks.”

I wonder where they got that impression? Could it possibly have had something to do with the constant linking of 9/11 and Al Qaeda and Iraq in Bush’s and Cheney’s speeches and public presentations?

Where have you been?

Everything the Bush administration said led us to believe Iraq was responsible for 9/11.

May 1st, 2003, as Bush stood on the deck of the USS Lincoln, In front of the 'Mission Accomlished 'sign...."We have removed an ally of AlQaeda."

Since when were Saddam and AlQaeda ever allies?!

On October 7th, 2002....Bush said...."Some people wonder, after 11 years of living with this problem (Iraq's pursuit of wmd) why do we need to confront it now? And there's a reason...we've experienced the horror of 9/11."

See how Bush indirectly connects these two events to fool the American people into believing they are related?

In September of 2002, Rumsfield was asked about linkage between Saddam and AlQaeda, and Rumsfield replied..."Very definitively, yes."

Do a search of how the administration lied about meetings between Saddam and Muhammed Atta. All of this has since been dis-proven.

At the time of our invasion of Iraq, a good 80-90 % of Americans believed iraq was somehow responsible for the 9/11 attacks.

Just where do you believe they got this disinformation?

The Easter bunny?

Why are you trying to rewrite history? If you think we are still falling for your misinformation and deception you've got another think coming.

[ WASHINGTON (AP) — Vice President Dick Cheney repeated his assertions of al-Qaeda links to Saddam Hussein's Iraq on Thursday as the Defense Department released a report citing more evidence that the prewar government did not cooperate with the terrorist group. ] 1

[ In making the case for war in Iraq, Bush administration officials frequently cited what they said were Saddam's decade-long contacts with al-Qaeda operatives. They stopped short of claiming that Iraq was directly involved in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the United States, but critics say Bush officials left that impression with the American public. ] 2

Every one of my conservative associates thought Iraq was behind 9/11 in league with Al-Qaeda, it never was "liberals" saying this. It was conservatives who don't understand the nuances of Bush administration deception.

Because this is how liberals operate. They operate through ignorance, emotion, and by propaganda. History shows this over and over. Liberals follow consensus thinking, and so to them, the more people believe in something, the truer it becomes. They think opinion is fact, and this is why they are so obsessed with polls. They believe in mob rule, and so they like to get control of the mob. A very effective way to do that is control of the media, and so one always witnesses the infiltration of the media in any liberal movement. The liberals have gained control of the media in this country. When they gain control of the nation, they will try to disarm it. Once this is done, they will remove all intellectuals and religion. Then the murder and torture begins.

The liberals have a very effective method of getting their view across to the public. If you say anything loud enough and long enough some people will start to believe. The more people who believe the louder the shouting becomes which convinces more people who will shout with you. It's a vicious circle. Also, if anyone disagrees with you then you must destroy his credibility before people become aware of the truth. The most common technique they use for this is to label you inaccurately with some insulting name. Racist-Sexist-Stooge of the Oil companies-Corrupted by corporate America etc. The fact that most of the media in this country is liberal and will show/print only the liberal side of the story is a tremendous help.

Why do you cons keep lying about what Bush and Cheney said? Cheney said the lead 9/11 attacker talked with someone from Iraq before 9/11 and they were involved.

every single time bush links the 9/11 attacks to the war in iraq (which happens in every single speech he makes) he is lying and engaging in a program of deceit.

he now claims that the war in iraq is the central front on the war on terror - which was started on 9/11.

we're real people here - do you think we are f****ng stupid?!
