how u simplify radicals... for example...

i dont have the radical symbol on my keyboard so can u simplify 345..... pretend that it has a radical ok.... please help me

make its prime factors

√345 = √(3*5*23)

well... u cannot simplify the number that you have given, i will use another number for you to understand. suppose u have to simplify radical 432.

√432 = √(2*2*2*2*3*3*3)
√432 = √(2*2) * √(2*2) * √(3*3) * √3
√432 = √4*√4*√9*√3
simplify the radicals (√3 cannot be simplifie so leave it as it is)
√432 = 2*2*3*√3
√432 = 12√3

so the simplification of √432 is 12√3

I make it as prime factors(means which can be perfectly ladled to 1 and the number itself only) :

345|3
115|5
..23|23
....1|

345:3 is 115
115:5=23
23:23=1

I divided with 3 first because it's the smallest number which if I use,the rest is 0
means: 345:3=115 rest 0
because 3+4+5=9:3=3 REST 0

But u cannot simplify because u obtain: 3*5*23 all taken once
if u had for example 3^2*5*23,then u will obtain:
...________ .. ____ .. ____
√3^2*5*23=3√5*23=3√115

The above are factors of 345. The best you could do is, as the other answer says, express it as a product of 23 x 15. But this will not remove the radical sign.

sqrt(345) = sqrt(3*5*23). Since there is no perfect square as a factor, you cannot simplify this.

If you had sqrt(200), you could factor it as sqrt(100*2) which equals sqrt(100) * sqrt(2) = 10sqrt(2)
