howcome everyone i ask about this guy says he's a one dimensional player who only score's goals, when infact he's leading the Ontario Hockey League in goals, assists, and overall points?(im pretty sure I dont have to explain this young prospect to some of you's, the guy who broke Wayne Gretzky's ohl record last year as a 16yr old)

lity you idiot that guy was 20 years old when he scored 87 goals, and he played at a time when scoring was at an alltime high, top it off he was never really given a chance to play in the nhl.(5 offical nhl games, are you ******* stupid are something) back your words up, I backed up mine.

5 games, that is so unfair to try an udjust to the nhl, just because he never scored on his very first shift like lemieaux did, doesn't make him a bust, geeze!..

I haven't seen a lot of Tavares aside from what I've seen on TV, but having talked to several scouts, and having read Brent Sutter's comments - confirm what I have seen on TV - he's a great player, but not a complete player.

Just keep in mind that Ernie Godden still holds the OHL goals record................and how sucessful was he in the NHL?

I think he's got a long way to go yet, he may be a great player in the OHL but then NHL is a whole different league. I would compare him to a Jonathan Toews type of player.

I would guess you're not asking this question in Oshawa. Everybody said Gretzky couldn't play defense either. IMO, the guy skating down ice with the puck, is not the guy who needs to be playing defensive hockey at the moment. While he may not be delivering the big spinal adjustment type body checks, he always seems to be the guy skating away with the puck. Sounds like good defense to me. So does filling the opposing team's net.

He is one dimensional...hes an offensive guy. That means points not just goals. Being a two dimensional player means being able to score, while having good defensive skills. From what ive heard about this guy is he has little to none. Hes a Kovalchuk or Gaborik esque player.
