Sweets were much better then mainly because they were a treat, not an everyday expectation! Spangles, opal fruits, glees, fruit salad, black jacks, dib-dabs, sherbert fountains ooh! the penny tray, every sweet shop had one!

If you look at the old newsreels from the 1960s, whether it's the crowd watching Kennedy in Dallas, or the 60s hippies protesting everything, they were all very thin. It's quite amazing, that despite their hideous clothes, and their hairy filthy faces, and their spaced-out faces, these people were very thin, and looked quite healthy. Now, people are fat pigs.

Therefore, my guess is that there were not very many sweets from the 1960s, and i wish it would have remained so to this day.
People didn't pig out on candy and cake and pie and chips like they do now.

Root Beer Float

Baby Ruth and Snickers Candy Bars and Twinkies

Dump Cake made in 10x13 pan

Raisin Pie, Coconut Cream pie, Chocolate Meringue pie

Also there were these little wax figures filled with a cool aide and candy cigarettes so you could act like you were smoking.

Pixie Stix stopped Halloween. We always had pop corn balls and they were better than the Halloween candy.

These were my favorites.
