What will happen to places such as the Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, etc. that are highly specialized, and selective in the patients that they treat? Would government-run health care allow everyone and their brother to be treated at our premier diagnostic and treatment hospitals for run-of-the-mill ailments? What effect will government-run health care have on those patients who have the need for specialized care? Will it be harder/take longer for them to be admitted to top hospitals?

not all that much i would guess.

i work for one of the nations largest hospitals, located in boston.

all of the hospitals you mentioned already have medicare as their single largest carrier - which means that the commercial carriers ALREADY deny most of their claims, hoping that they can continue to collect premiums from customers and then foist their denied claims onto medicare.

lets just make medicare so it covers everyone - get rid of the parasitic health insurance companies who use claim denial as a method of advancing people...

It would bring their demise. How are they going to pay and recruit the best doctors and fund research if they are not generating income. Income to pay bills is a concept the democrats have yet to understand. They're is always "free" money somewhere to pay for all our bills.

As with everything in Socialism - the top and the bottom are brought to the middle. Nothing will be exceptional, nothing will be terrible. Everything will be mediocre. I just can't wait!
