Why does the world frown upon Goths and Emos?

I have had a lot of expeirence with this! I am a Goth and my parents hate me because of it!

Well a lot of people think goths hate the world just because they wear black and cold colors. I'm not a goth but I don't really think there is anything wrong with it.

I think I know what a goth is someone who chooses to dress and act in a dark fashion but I don't know what an emos is - so, since I am part of the world, and I don't frown on them, I don't think the world frowns on them. Oh, by the way spell check didn't recognize emos either. I think it is very egotistical to think anyone can affect the "world" to such a degree. Individual's whether they be goth or emos are not that important to the "world". I figure people that want to project themselves that differently want and need any attention, good or bad that they get. It is why children act out, to get the attention, usually not good attention, of their parents.

Because they seem like they are unsure of themselves and depressed listening to depressing music about death and stuff. so then they hang out with more people like them to get some individuality... by dressing in the same fashion listening to the same music as a million other goth kids and still saying they hate their parents for not caring about them. Not that all are but from the outside looking at the walls that is what it seems.


Also parents hate goth and emo because it makes the kids hate them. when was the last time you talked with your friends about how much you hate your parents?

I think they worry and associate Goth and Emos with drugs, sex, suicide, etc. They want you to be happy, well-adjusted, trustworthy, kind, and successful in your life. They fear the black. They don't hate you. They are just scared to death. They want you happy.

I have a teen son. I really don't care much what he wears, how he does his hair or any of that. What I care about is that he is a person who treats himself with respect, treats others with respect and who I can trust to do the right thing most of the time. It is about how he acts, not how he dresses or looks. I am super proud of him because I know when he walks out of the house he has values and beliefs that he will stand by. He is a great kid. If he went goth or emo, I would worry that he was unhappy and talk with him to find out why. If he was okay and just liked dressing that way, then I would be fine with it. If he was truly unhappy, I would help him, love him and get him through it.

I so hope you don't believe your parents hate you. I hope you love you and treat yourself well. Hang in there.

I'm sure your parents don't hate you. When you were born they likely rejoiced! They wanted the best for you. They likely dressed you in happy bright colors, provided the best that they could for you, and nurtured you lovingly to the age that you are now.

That you've chosen a lifestyle where the wearing of mostly, if not all black clothing, listening to emotive music that sounds depressing and the personality of this subculture is generally depression and/or includes cutting or other types of self-harming is probably disappointing to them.
Eventually, you will grow up and change. I've never seen a Goth or Emo over the age of 30, have you?

WOW! Thats hush. Your parents hate you. Hmmm. I dont think they hate you. I think they are sad of your apperance and is wondering what happended to you. Like if your taking drugs or stuff. And some people are like that at goths and emos.All my friends are scraed of then besides a few. i dont even pay attention to them. Cuz they just look different in the outside but think before u were a emo/goth did u feel any different? Dont worry what people think. It is what you think about yourself. And you should sit your parents down and say why you are a emo/goth and say please will you treat me like your child. I really liked how you treated me before.

I am not a goth/emo but i am saying what i think about them.. and so on.. =] hope u have luck takling to ur parents!!

My son went through An Emo and Goth stage. I didn't care for it, but he pulled out the old family picture album with me in a tube top, bell bottoms and platform shoes smoking a doobie. I still don't really care for the look, but respect a person's right to express themselves in manner and dress. Don't sacrifice your spirit to fit into a mold.

I guarantee you that 99% of the world doesn't know what a goth or emo is, and if thay knew, sorry to say, but they wouldn't care a bit. Enjoy!

sometimes people hate something without a reason because other people dont like them...for example i hate brocoli because other people dont like them...and i havent even tasted them before....
my classmate told me she hate goths because she said they dont take a bath and they stink,they put dark makeups and they only wear blacks......i didnt agree with her about the thing that they dont take a bath and they stink....
i hav a friend and shes a goth and shes really nice but she doesnt really hang out wit me even though i asked her if she wants 2 go shopping wit me..but shes still one of my close friends even though she hangs out wit her goth friends..
i dont think ur parents hate u they jst hate the thing when u only hang out wit ur goth friends....
my advice 2 u is dat u should start being friends wit other people other than goths so they'll know that goths can be different and nice.....

I'm not sure. I am not goth or emo myself, but I can't stand it when people say that they don't like someone just because of how they look or act. It's stupid...I think they are jsut jealous because you guys are something that they could never be or become. You know what I'm saying? Don't give up...the world will come around someday...
