This has intrigued me for decades, I never could find a definition that really satisfied me. Most scientists claim it is the most difficult concept to comprehend, I certainly agree with that. They claim that time and space are so tightly bound together they have coined the phrase, "The time space continuum." This explains nothing as far as I am concerned. When the singularity of the big bang appeared there was nothing but pure energy present, no matter, no gravity, no space, no time. When this point cooled to a certain degree the first sub atomic particles appeared, this event, we are told, was the beginning of time and space, matter and gravity also came into being, all of the physical laws were created at this one special time. Time, what does that mean? To me, it is nothing more than a position in a series of events, it can be recorded, but it can't be measured, certainly it could not at that stage of development. Time should be seen as movement, when the first sub atomic particle came into being, I agree that space also came into being and the particle was moving, movement requires space. Why not call this set of circumstances, "The time- movement continuum."? Einstein said that time dilates at relativistic speeds, but clocks are needed to confirm this, and clocks are man made instruments that are tied to time, but, do they actually measure time? A clock moving at relativistic speed will be affected by the speed, it's mass will increase to a point where its mecanical movements are slowed due to the exrtra enegy required to overcome inertia, but the extra energy is not available so the clock shows a lower reading on it's dial, leading one to assume that time had slowed down. Clocks outside this reference point would show no change in the rate of measurement, but what have they been measuiring? To me they are measuring their own rate of function, the fast moving clock had been affected by a natural state that exists under relativistiic speed, nothing has been dilated, the clock merely slows down. The theory of relativity states,as matter approaches the speed of light, mass approaches infinity and time approaces zero. Repalace the word, time, with the word, movement and see if you agree with this. As mass increases so does space decrease within the mass, movement is restricted under these conditions, these are the conditions within a black hole, there is no space, therefore there an be no movement. Everything is much easier to understand. If time relies on movement, what is its puprose? I now choose to believe that time is a man made concept, it does not exist in nature as a factor to maintain anything. Look at things this way, and all those questions aboujt time travel can be relgated to the dust bin.

Time is what keeps everything from happening all at once.
That means it's another dimension, like X,Y, and Z.
The space-time distance between two events is:
D = sqrt[ X^2 + Y^2 + Z^2 - (Tc)^2 ],
Where X, Y, Z is the measured distance between the events, T is the measured time between the events, and "c" is the speed of light. D is a constant for any two events, no matter how you measure XYZ and T (as long as you make honest measurements).
As for the first person to make a clock -- well, he didn't make it, he already had a clock in the apparent rotation of the Sun around the Earth. Noon was when the Sun was highest, time was hours before or after noon (or sunrise, or sunset). 12 hours in the day and 12 hours in the night have been used since pre-history.

Time is the fourth dimension.
The first 'clock' was solar - the shadow of any object moving throughout the day.
The 12 hours of the day and night are based on the 12 constellations of the zodiac. Humanity's oldest religion is to honor the sun, the life giver, which gets 'born' (= rises a little higher in the sky) every year on December 25. The "star in the east" (Sirius) leads the "three kings" (three stars in Orion's belt) to the birthplace (place where it rises) of the Sun on December 25.

Time is something that we created. And as long as we can create it for our own use, it exists. Like computers. How do we know that such wonderous mechanical machines of magic exist? We don't. So people try and create them and bring imagination to reality.
In the past, different civilisations had different ways of telling time, with a reason. It could be season, it could be because of where on earth the were situated. And because this rhythm was eventually set after much observation and society consideration, the first person who finaly made the clock probably followed the rhythm of his time and place.

Now I basically feed them separate so there at the instant are not any food subject concerns. i will feed 3 interior the kitchen approximately 4-5 ft aside and shop them on activity. I in no way pass away them on my own with food. I stay with them. As they get finished I take them out of the kitchen and %. up their bowls. This keeps the others from even going around yet another canines food bowl. for the reason that i regulate the feeding ritual and confirmed them that I administration the food we've had no subject concerns of temper in any respect. I belive time is a system created by the ancients to aid them in remembering certain events throughout not only the year...but over many years. I think this was to know when to plant seed for crops and know weather patterns and also that they originally used the stars/planets to measure this (becoming a time piece). It is known that the Mayans were very clever with their calenders and very accurate and these dates are still being looked at today (interestingly, Time as we know it finishes on 21st.Dec 2012 in one calender they have..this isn't the end of the world as some say, this is end times..the ending of a time system as we know it due to it not being needed any longer after humans evolve to a higher plane with a 12 strand DNA sequence rather than the 2 strand you have now).
Time is speeding up at the moment!...
Time is actually speeding up (or collapsing). For thousands of years the Schumann Resonance or pulse (heartbeat) of Earth has been 7.83 cycles per second, The military have used this as a very reliable reference. However, since 1980 this resonance has been slowly rising. It is now over 12 cycles per second! This mean there is the equalivant of less than 16 hours per day instead of the old 24 hours. Another intrepetation is - we, or rather Consciousness have been down this same road seven times before over the last 16 billion years. Each of these cycles of Creation runs 20 times faster than the last one. The same amount of Creation is paced 20 times tighter. This is why time seems to be going so fast. It is not "time" but Creation itself that is accelerating. (see Mayan Calendar Central)
SOME POSSIBLE EFFECTS OF THE CHANGES
* Migraine headaches, tiredness
* Electrical sensations in the limbs and spinal column
* Cramps in the muscular networks
* Flu like symptoms
* Intense dreams.
* The human body will become more sensitive as a result of the new vibrations.
* The resonance of Earth has been 7.8Hz for thousands of years. Since 1980 it has risen to over 12Hz.
This means that 16 hours now equate to a 24 hour day. Time is speeding up!
* The physical body has already begun to change. A new light body is being created.
* Our DNA is being re-programmed from the Universe (as predicted in the Mayan Prophecy).
We are going from 2 strand back to 12 strand DNA.
* Greater intuitive and healing abilities will emerge.
* Eyes will become cat like in order to adjust to the new atmosphere and light.
* All newly born children will probably be telepathic at birth.
* All plagues of the 90's, including AIDS will be gone.

time is man's invention, just a way of recording events. it began with early man marking the patterns of the sun and moon, and then realizing the patterns grew to seasons and into years, but that the patterns became smaller too, cycles of the sun broke down into something we now refer to as hours, and then we broke down hours to minutes, etc.
there is an atomic clock that records time perfectly, but I don't know too much about it

Time is another dimension to measure reality. As you can measure the length, width, and depth of something, so can you measure the time it exists. For the specific measurements, they are as arbitrary as inches, liters, and grams.
Hope this helps.

My teacher made a huge deal about this. He got so mad that no one knew what time was. In the modern world we just don't learn the definition/ formula for time.
