IF i post a question about looking for a monologue i wuld like to stop getting answers that tell me i am a lazy bum and to go and look for some. Yall act like i am strictly using this as a resource. Dont tell me that i need to work harder in finding one cause you dont know how hard i have worked. Yes i have been to directors and librarians and anyone else. Yes i have looked on the internet, I am just looking for the right one. SO if i ask for your advice or recommendations on something STOP being so mean!

I've never encountered you before today, so I can't be accused of having been mean to you.

But I've just read your two previous requests for monologues, and I have to say, I also don't understand why you're having trouble coming up with two-minute speeches from plays you've already selected (and to which you have access). We didn't have computers or the internet when I was in high school, and we managed to come up with our own monologues and scenes BY OURSELVES. We did this by reading a lot plays and picking something suitable out of them. It was no more and no less work than any other homework assignment.

Since you've already decided on "Anastasia" and "Brighton Beach Memoirs", I don't know why you need more help. I truly don't. What good would it do for someone to cut and paste a monologue from Anastasia for you (even if I could find the play online, which I can't at the moment), if it's not even the particular speech of Anastasia's or the Dowager Empress's that you'd prefer? YOU are the one who has to choose it. Read the entire play, so you can understand your character. Pick a speech that you like from the play, and see if it works out to around two minutes when read aloud. Adjust for length and then practice it many times. If you're good, they'll be watching you, not their stopwatch---they won't care if you're under or over by a few seconds.

This is what you have to do in drama class, so you need to get used to it. Telling you so is hardly "mean".

If you think people are mean on Yahoo Answers, I am guessing you either have not done many shows or have been lucky in who you've worked with. Many directors, especially at auditions, can be very abrupt/cruel/brusque.

I tend to let everyone finish, but there have been people who I've been tempted to tell not to bother starting.

Theatre requires an odd mix of sensitivity to emotions and a thick skin to cruelty.

Be strong.

Alot of people on here aren't even in to theatre, they just want points and they answer everything they can....so I'm sorry that they're mean :( Have you tried searching for questions asked by other people, because lots of people ask about monologes.....there may be a better answer there.
And I agree with the person above, go to a bookstore/library there will be TONS of monologe books for every age/gender/situation. Break a leg!

There are about a hundred questions a week just like that, so some people get annoyed and take it out on you. I apologize on behalf of my pissy comrades.

If you need a monologue, go to your local bookstore (I usually go to Barnes and Noble for this) and go to the Theatre section. There are books of just monologues. That should help you out.

There are a lot more people who are mannerly and empathize with you than there are boneheads with nothing better to do. Best wishes
