No, the '89 49ers are the finest NFL crew of all time. enable's regulate for the actual shown reality that gamers are greater/speedier on the instantaneous. If we do not, the 'seventy 2 Dolphins ought to have issues because the avg weight of their OL changed into 250 lbs. speaking factors, revenues Cap submit vs pre. contained in the submit revenues Cap era you won't be able to keep different HOF on your crew the way you should contained in the Pre-revenues Cap era. The 'seventy 8 Steelers had 9 of their best. what number do the '07 Pats have...3 possibly. the different important aspect is that the NFL change the regulations contained in the 1978 so that you won't be able to bump receivers after 5 yards. So, to guage communities before that rule change is extremely hard. Now, you're left with some communities. 'seventy 8 Steelers, '80 5 Bears, '89 49ers, 'ninety 2 Cowboys. (even notwithstanding the '80 4 49ers went 15-a million, even bill Walsh himself said that the '89 49ers were extra positive via the board.) it ought to come all the way down to the 'seventy 8 Steelers vs '89 49ers. The 49ers had dealt with the Bears somewhat properly after 1985. 3 cases they beat them which includes the NFC championship interest in Jan of 89 in Chicago. they'd a million loss 10-9. i imagine the '89 49ers evaluate favorably to the 'ninety 2 Cowboys. The 49ers and the Cowboys battled continually hostile to at least one yet another contained in the early to mid 90s, yet, both key adjustments for the '89 49ers are Montana (he hit receivers at the same time as they were operating finished stride) and Ronnie Lott. The Steelers not in any respect confronted backs like Craig and Rathman receiving the balls 5 yards previous the line of scrimmage. those adult adult males were bruising runners and the Steelers secondary ought to have a tough time with them.

I'd say it would be up there with the Bulls championship 72-10 team of 95-96 and the Yankees 114-48 championship of 1998 (yes, the Mariners of 2001 had 2 more wins but they didn't win the title).
I'm not going to count college sports because even at the Div. 1 level, there are still vast talent differences between teams at times. It's much more impressive in the pros.
Hard to compare them because the other sports play more games per season so I'd say the Bulls and Yankees years are as close to "perfect", like the Pats would be if they run the table and win the Super Bowl, as they could possibly be.

A good question. The Dolphins played in a different time with different rules. The Dolphins achievements were amazing for there time. The Patriots achievements perhaps more so in this day of free agents. If the Patriots go 19-0 ( and I think they will ) the way they dominate teams will be the difference between the Dolphins and the Patriots. With the Dolphins even when they dominated a game they didn't dominate the score board. The Patriots have been dominating on the field and the score board.

If the Patriots go 19-0 it will not be considered that great because their season and the franchise itself has been tainted.
OU's 47 game winning streak in the '50's was incredible, and Mt. Union's back to back 54 and 55 game streaks are unbelievable regardless of what level of sports you're talking about. To win 109 out of 110 games in football is absurd.
But I don't think that New England will finish undefeated this year let alone another year and a half to match OU's streak or 2 more years to match either of Mt. Union's.

The Dolphins did it when they did not have the opportunity to go out and pick up 3 different teams best receivers and the other best Linebacker of another.
The Pats are as good as they are for one reason and it's becasue of free agency.
So the fact that Miami went 17-0 with out the ability to say "Hey we are a good team, lets go load up on even better players in one off season then we already have" makes their accomplishment more impressive.
Change your "When" to "If".
Everyone thought indy in '05 at 13 -0, Denver in '98 13-0 and Chicago in '85 12-0 were going undefeated and they all lost one or two.
Indy also lost in the playoffs to Pittsburgh who plays NE on Dec. 9th.

No way that that any NFL team going unbeaten could ever compair with what a team achieved as the "Miracle on Ice" game between USA and Russia Hockey game in the 1980 Olypmics. Handful of College and Amateur Hockey players beat the most dominant hockey team of the era in Olympics Ice Hockey. If you missed watching that game on television... You missed a game of a lifetime.

I believe that THe NE Pats have a good chance if they can get throught the underrated Pit Steelers, The pats have the coaching and the talent but i believe they are getting too full of themselves and when they go against PIT Steelers they will have to be 100% truthfully PIT is better than INDY and NE struggled with INDY so if so they will be the first since 1972 dolphins.

Dcon said it best. You won't have to worry about this scenario, because it won't play out. Even when the Colts have to go to Foxboro, things will be different.
1. Marvin Harrison playing = much more explosive offense. He doesn't drop the ball too much.
2. Starting left tackle Tony Ugoh playing = Manning does not fumble that ball because the defender never gets to him. Manning has much more time to throw.

It would definitely be a great accomplishment for sure,i have been watching the NFL regularly for 32 years, however there are to many factors that makes it hard to say it will happen. For example, injuries, bad calls, turnovers are just a few of the things you can count on to happen.I really like the Pats and it would be great if they accomplished it but because of the variables that you cannot see ahead i feel its unlikely.Good Luck
