well i suppose its like the old saying "every picture tells a story". and at our library in kingston upon hull in their archives they keep photos of just about everything that ever happened in the city.

Hi,

Ignore the guy above me - it's not a "stupid question". It's true that if they're taken "at the time" and are not staged, they give an account of what happened. However, the photographer could have been selective in what he showed because one scene looked more dramatic, so they don't always give an "accurate account" (Jesus, what a stupid answer :p).

Anyway, assuming they were taken at the time and they're not selective, they show what things were like at the time.

They give historians an insight to what used to be on the site they are interested in . giving them an idea of what they may find if they were to dig up the site .

Are you for real. Photos are the best form of evidence as they give an accurate account of what was there. Jesus what a stupid question
