i still think that we need to impose a fat tax on foods that don't meet a certain percentage of daily nutritional value. they tax the hell out of cigs and liquor... thats a choice, so is eating crappy food!!! and don't give me the same old crap that it's too expensive to eat healthy, i eat very healthy and don't spend much money at all, you just have to learn how to cook and shop!!!

I think if they introduced the fat tax and then used that money to subsidise healthy options it would enable more families to provide the heathier options

jj6777 - they can eat all the fat food they want, i am just saying, why shouldn't they get taxed? they are making an unhealthy decision just like i do everytime i buy a pack of cigs or a six pack!! i don't mind letting them live their 40 year life because they will probably die of a heart attack!!!

poor people aren't the only ones buying fatty food... besides, maybe it will motivate them to explore healthier options which would be better for them and their families!!! a giant can of tomato soup is cheaper, i believe, then a box of mac and cheese!!! a bag of frozen veggies is waaaay cheaper then a bag of french fries... a carton of eggs is cheaper then a box of doughnuts

Why not just impose a tax on food? Most EU countries pay VAT on top of the price of their food. Result there are no fat people anywhere in the EU except here in the UK.
Fat - just get used to it. The British are a fat race and always have been.
Fat school kids and teens should be sent to fat-camp where they run all day and get no supper!

When I first read your question, I thought you were talking about people. I have a few unwanted pounds, so I wondered if you were going to tax me for that??!! LOL I think the fat tax on food is a great idea. The fast food places are starting to have a healthy choice menu. My friend loves McDonalds. We went there last weekend for lunch, and I had a grilled chicken breast sandwich with apple slices and water. It was yummy!

Not only that, but they were saying the other day on ABC that being overweight causes 10 TIMES more cancer/heart problems! I think overweight people should not be allowed in restaurants and bars just like cigarette smokers if they are that dangerous. A study out just a month ago says that if you associate with fat people, you will get fat too. Talk about second hand smoke ! I think they should charge extra on insurance policies too.why should WE thin people pay for their health care? Or maybe just shoot them !
BTW I have lost 110# in the past two years !

A fat tax, interesting, but that would require a lot of government bureaucracy to define exactly what is unhealthy, and would that tax mainly be absorbed by the poor to begin with?

Great Idea, lets tax the life out of McDonalds, since they have done what the liberal war on poverty has failed to do in 40 years.. feed billions on the cheap... Of course, that would mean isolating Michael Mooore and Ted Kennnedy, and Rosie O'Donnell... or would they be considered exempt liberals...?

I agree! women have a social commitment to Males in the looks/build department! A tax for small titties & outta shape bodies as an eye sore for us Males is PC for me!!! The much more prefered small waist/heavy bosomed beauties that ALL women have a social OBLIGATION to be built like for us Males is what should NOT be taxed! Just the skin & bones or fat look, you know the death camp look not to mention women that are over weight as nobody WANTS THEM as their unhealthy, so tax em for being freaky, a public eye sore. The list goes on & on about small topped skin & bone women & the fatties (just call em doe's!) & tax en for it! Good God, NO women has the right NOT to be built like the Barbi Twins of Playboy fame! Otta be a women/doe law requiring E cup up(natural only) or pay your "fair share" tax! I agree, taxing people who don't live up to MY expectations is only fair, eh, my little dossie!?

I disagree
Government should not have the ability to use taxation as a way to control our behavior.
I think our obese government needs to go on a diet but you want to feed it more. (power over the people and money from taxation)

In which state do you reside? I want to make sure to stay away. You might want to impose a tax on my morals next.

Not all poor people buy crappy foods because they like them better, Mac and cheese, potato's, pasta and higher fat meats are cheaper, than fresh fruits and veggies, as well as leaner better cuts of meat . hamb for instance much less expensive then chicken.
