Breastfeeding is NOT an effective form of birth control. Although it will take longer to resume your cycle after birth if you are breastfeeding, at some point, you will start ovulating, and you WILL get pregnant... I've seen it happen several times...

Talk to her doctor about a real contraceptive, it Yazz or the NuvaRing. Those are the ones I would reccomend to any woman out there who is looking for birth control. Breastfeeding isn't 100%, my cousin is proof to that. I won't stop the periods, they should only be lighter. Good Luck!

ok breast feeding does stop your period but you have to be doing it exclusively BUT it doesn't mean you won't get pregnant!!!!

ok now for what ppl have been saying about the birth control methods they are NOT always good first the nuvo ring lol sucks *** sorry to say that but i used it when it first came out here last year and low and behold I GOT PREGNANT after using it for like 6 months correctly!!!

now as for the IUD thanks to that which i tried after i lost the baby from getting pregnant on the nuvo ring (which i didn't know i was pregnant cause i still had a light period) and used the ring for a month then i lost the baby about a month after that so i was 3 months along.
then i got a IUD after letting my body heal and not even a month later it cause such a bad infection that i almost lost my uterus!!!!!!
if it wasn't for being in the hospital for 2 weeks on some seriously strong meds and some pain killers and having a surgery to save it i would not be pregnant today !!!!

I wouldn't depend on it, but I have heard that if your baby is basically attached to your boob, it will work. (Which, most mom's do not want their baby attached that much).

It stopped my period. I only breastfed for 4 months (I regret quitting that early now, but I went back to work) and my period didn't come until about 7 months.

I think the best form is an IUD (inter-unterine device). It just stays up inside you for up to 5 years and you don't have to worry one bit about anything. It's been great for me.

If its exclusive, the baby never sucks on anything but the breast, it can be pretty effective. But its not 100%, and unless you're willing to have more children you shouldnt depend on it.

If it is exclusive then it is pretty effective, but as everything else it isn't 100% effective.
