Yes, and i still have it. It's an "old school" piggy bank that you have you break to open, and I started putting silver dollars in in when I was a kid. It's full, so it just sits on my dresser, where it has been for 40+ years. I did take it several years ago to an artist that I know, and I had her paint it so it looks like something I might have bought for decor. When I die, my son will probably break it open and go buy video games with the money!

I've had quite a few banks in various shapes. I had a piggy once, but the only way to get the money out was either to break it, or painstakingly shake it out with a knife stuck in the slot. One day I got mad and broke it. (I was about 7 or 8 at the time.)

But my favorite bank was an antique Liberty Bell souvenir. It had been my grandfather's, but he gave it to me after I cried about my pig. It was made of iron so I couldn't break it.

I wonder whatever became of that bell???

Still do. But it's not exactly a "piggy" bank.

It's a jar that I'd decorated in art class during 5th grade. I cut a slit in the lid so that I can drop coins in. And if I have to take some out, I just unscrew the lid.

No breaks, no mess.

As a child, I did have a piggy bank, but now I just use an empty coffee can for my change. When my small grandchildren do odd jobs for me, they are rewarded with a handful of change.

Yes, but I could never wait to get the change out. I'd usually break it when it had about 75 cents in it.
