I have asked a couple of questions about the Liberal Labor debate, obviously there are some very strong opinions and many in favour of Labor but so far not one answer has any substance. I have had lots of comments like, Howard is a liar, Howard caused interest rate rises, Howard doesn't care about workers Rudd will look after the workers, blah blah blah, Just exactly what policy says that? I am very open minded so can someone tell me exactly how they would benefit with Labor compared to Liberal and what particular Labor policy they are referring to. Please no answers like, "Labor look after workers" and that sort of crap. If you really know you will be better off with Labor then tell me what policy, I would like to read it I am genuinely interested but please dont just quote "Changing the IR laws" that will not automatically make you better off

I suspect that you are really a Liberal voter and only want support in that belief. You seem to imply that John Howard is being misrepresented when he is called a liar. I wouldn't go so far as to call him that but he does have a lawyers approach to the use of language which he knows can be construed to mean various things. Not lying maybe but extremely "shifty."
To me the biggest difference between the ALP and the Coalition is the way they deal with the things that affect the less well off particularly in the areas of health and education. The LIbs. aim seems to be to adopt the American system, which a quick look at things in US, will show you is a complete disaster.
Nobody can deny that the gulf between the rich and poor has widened to a degree never before seen in Australia.
Even if there were no other reasons for preferring the ALP over the Coalition the above is enough for me.
As a retiree, living off a pension, and a bit extra I don't think either party is going to be to my advantage, but I would like to think I lived in a world where all kids had an equal chance in life, if they make the effort and that is not the case under a right wing government such as we have now.

I love it when people ask a question and then dictate how it should be answered.

The Labor Party policy on Industrial Relations is a good start. Have a read of that and then tell me there is nothing to recommend the Labor Party over the Liberals - for those of us who work for a living anyway.

Your question was a good one, I to would like to know how we are going to benefit from a Labor govt who so far have just copied the liberal policies.
Are all these labor supporters voting on policies ? or are they voting for personality.
Keating had charm and personality thats why I voted for him, but than I was young and thought I knew a bit about politics too.

How wrong was I

Neither of them are really worth choosing. Neo-Conservative parties such as the Australian Liberals promote war and phony "Capitalism." If Labour is talking about "looking after workers" and stupid things like that, then it means that they are socialists and socialism is an utterly bankrupt economic system that runs a country's economy into the ground.

I think the Liberty and Democracy Party would be the best choice for Australia (though I am an American). Some of their polices (according to Wikipedia) are:

* Legalisation of euthanasia;
* Significantly reduced tax rates and government spending;
* Re-legalisation of marijuana;
* Support of shooters' rights;
* Support of voluntary voting;
* Opposition to corporate welfare;
* Support of competitive federalism and political decentralisation;
* Support of free trade;
* Support of gay marriage; and
* Support of property owners' rights with regards to all matters including smoking.

Obviously, these would all be very good things, for any country to adopt. Any country that has laws censoring the Internet and that bans video games from going on the market is definitely in need of alot more freedom (Wikipedia has an article about it @ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Censorship_in_Australia ). That and the mandatory voting law are the types of things that dictatorships are supposed to engage in.

Well for a start we wont have 25 nuclear reactors built over the country and we might get to pull our troops out of the illegal occupation of Iraq that has made Australia a terrorist target.
Then we might actually be able to acknowledge the Aboriginal people so putting a shocking aspect of our history to rest once and for all.
Then we might actually be able to think for ourselves as country instead of blindly following everything the USA tells us to do.
Advance Australia Fair.
