Do you feel safe walking the streets where you live alone, at night???

I'm conscious that I could be unlucky at any time in any place. I've been attacked before and prepared myself to die at that time because I had encountered someone who had no self-control. Last night, some yob threw his fish & chip wrappers at me from his car. How was I supposed to retaliate? - Throw my bottle of Guinness through his windscreen maybe?
These are uncertain times and some of the people we live alongside seem to lack any humanity. This troubles me but there isn't a lot I can do about it and so I ignore such people and get on with my life.
kosta k: Walking at night is an act of defiance against those that seek to intimidate us. I am also a social phobic so I appreciate empty streets sometimes. Also the night is just a very beautiful time. Also, I am less image-conscious at this time...in short I can be myself. Also, I don't believe in knives for violence: I am a chef and a knife is a tool and not a weapon for me. If I were to lose my self-control, my career would be at an end.

I feel safe walking down my street any time of the day or night. We have an extremely low crime rate in my community and my state, no matter how much over the budget my Democrat governor gets. I live in Maine. Several of the terrorists rolled through my neighborhood on their way to 9-11 and the WTC. That is a legacy of the administrations prior to that of the current sitting President. If you want to be correct AND an expert, you should familiarize yourself with the social and political climes of Europe, America & the Middle East from the 1960's on up. You will see that things have not changed that much. Not only that, but there were MORE terrorist organizations running amuck in Europe and the Middle East back then, than there is now. Their sponsors have changed (USSR then, Iran & Syria now), but their religion has not changed, and neither has their agenda. My point being, as Americans and defenders of Democracy, we have been under constant attack by Islam and terrorists for over 40 years. Only now are we starting to confront this threat head on.

Although I live in a very safe neighborhood, I wouldn't feel safe. I don't think a woman walking alone at night is ever completely safe.

I live in a 55 and older commuinty so I feel very safe walking , but witrh all the news today I can see why people don't feel safe anywhere as society has made all of us that way and it sure is a shame people have nothing to do but harm others, maybe if they all got a job they'd have no time to do any harm.

No one should feel safe when walking alone at night. And i really dont see the point why would somebody want to walk alone at night when could drive in the morning? But if you really have to, then get a pocket knife.

Our town is one of the nicest but we live in a world where danger is around every corner. No one is really safe walking the streets at night.

Not really because there's a pub near where I live with lots of crazy drunk people, especially on Friday nights! However, I do feel safe when I stay with my family in a nearby village as it's a peaceful area

We moved in, and within three months there had been four stabbing incidents just round the corner. Someone has tried to break into my car, our wheelie bins get tipped over and their is always beer cans and bottles and takeaway litter strewn down the stree.

I hate where I live and would advise anybody who is thinking of moving to thoroughly check out the area first or you will be as miserable as I am.

Probably not. It's good to feel safe where you live but you don't want to feel to safe. And it also really depends on where you live you never know what could be out there...
