Going there this week for the third time. I'm fine with looking like a visitor but I don't want to look "ultra touristy". The obvious wld be not to be loaded up with shopping bags and wearing a camera arround my neck sporting a big t-shirt that says Vegas Rules, but what other things shld I know? Also It's nov. and I know what the weather will be like but what do you locals think about people wearing slippers( flip flops) in the daytime? Do you hardly see that since its not summer time?

Hon, nearly everybody in Vegas is a tourist. Enjoy yourself, and don't worry about what other people think. But...if you really don't want to look like a tourist:
Don't point. Don't ooohh and ahhhhh. Don't gawk...at anything you see. I wouldn't wear the flip flops, day or night. Nights in Vegas can get chilly, and they could make you look "touristy". Dress casually, act calmly, as if you've traveled the strip hundreds of times before. No ultra-large handbags. Most important, have fun!

Locals don't go to the strip. They avoid it unless they have to go. Everyone on the strip is a tourist so everyone looks the same. Except for the guys wearing white socks with sandals. What are they thinking? Flip flops are fine during the day. As long as they are comfortable.
If you want to look like a local in November wear a jacket and look like you are freezing during the day. Locals here are so use to the HOT weather that anything below 90 is cold to us. Tourists come from really cold areas and find the temps here so hot for this time of year.
So if you want to look like a local ... dress in warm clothing.

Flamingo is great once you're on a funds (as are Harrah's and Bally's), and Monte Carlo and MGM are good places in between.

I agree with Noni, everybody that goes there is a tourist. Don't really worry about sticking out, there will be much more crazier dressed people than you. It's cold in November, very cold at night. I would say it is in the low 50's at night and low 70's during the day, but the wind chill is what gets you. It's a desert wind that doesn't have many trees to block it. So shoes... comfy closed-toed shoes with socks. Have fun!!

The weather is about 70's - 80's right now. I was at the mall the other day with jeans, a tee shirt, and flip flops on.

Don't wear a 'Hawaiian' shirt with flowers on it. As a matter of fact, just don't wear anything with flowers on it. Just wear casual clothes and try not to look to "impressed" by all the bright lights.
I wouldn't really know about the "flip-flops" (we call them thongs in Australia). We wear them all year round in Australia, but in Las Vegas you would probably look a little funny.
Most of all, just don't be self conscious. It'll be fun...
And remember, "IT'S LAS VEGAS BABY! WOOOOH!"

over 90% of the people on the strip and on Fremont street are tourists.
Locals rarely hang out here, unless they are entraining out of town guests.
So unless you know your way around Vegas and have a car, you'll be rubbing sholders with other tourists.

I live here and still have short pants on with sandles.
You may want a pair of shoes for the coolness at night.
