Well, it pretty much depends on you. The Xbox360 has the biggest software catalog right now, but also has the most hardware problems.
The Wii is my personal console of choice. You should look into getting one, unless you aren't patient enough to wait for some of the great games coming out for it, like Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It has great backwards compatibility. Since you didn't own a Game Cube last generation, it might be wise to check out some great Game Cube only titles and play them on the Wii. If you've never owned consoles previous to your PS2 and Xbox, you might also like the Virtual Console games from older consoles.
As for the PS3, I don't know much about it other than the fact that I'm not buying one. Most of its' games are on Xbox 360 already. Might as well just get the 360 if you like the PS3s' current software catalog. Unless you're more interested in the PS3s' future releases, like Metal Gear Solid 4.
I would say, if you can get two consoles, get the Wii and then wait for the 360s without any hardware problems and then get it, too(Unless you want the PS3, that is). If you can't get two, then just get the one that appeals to you most.

If you have a lot of friends who already have an XBox 360, access to a broadband internet connection and a means to pay for XBox Live, you should get a 360. Frag sessions in Halo 3 are a lot of fun especially with friends. Add a slew of other games from the 360's wide selection, you can have a lot more fun.
Cut back a bit if you're thinking about the Playstation 3, until the more anticipated games such as Metal Gear Solid 4 ship. If you're willing to wait for them you can get a PS3 now and get some hours in playing Resistance: Fall of Man, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Rainbow Six: Las Vegas.
If you don't mind that your new console can't play either of the new-fangled versions of DVD coming out and that you like playing with family and friends who come over, get a Nintendo Wii. It's loads of fun for all ages and it's a hit when friends come over. Wii Sports comes bundled with the console and with it hours of playability. After a while, you can take a break from bowling to play Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princes, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Mario Party 8, Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition, Warioware: Smooth Moves and Dance Dance Revolution: Hottest Party. Also, since you say you've already got an XBox and Playstation 2, if you get a Wii, you practically also get a Gamecube.
I personally own a PS2 and Wii, I love them both (but after my PC) and come next year I'll be getting myself a PS3 too.

Wii all the way.
And if you're into portable (and often online) gaming I'd recommend a Nintendo DS Lite.
The lower price PS3 is also a good bet because if you already have a PS2 you don't need to worry about the non backwards compatibility issue. It'll have some great games in the future!
The XBOX360 is also good. It has the second biggest fan base of all the next gen consoles.
I myself am a bit of a Nintendo man, so I'd get a Wii.
Just my opinion though.

Xbox 360. there's a larger library of nice video games, alongside with backwards properly matched ones from the 1st Xbox console. The device is extra good fee than the PS3 however the photos are only as good no remember what the Sony followers say. Xbox stay is surely ordinary and totally featured online gaming community while in comparison with the fledgling ones for Wii and PS3 that actually have a protracted thank you to bypass earlier they are everywhere close to as good. The action administration of the Wii and PS3 controllers is a neat concept in spite of the undeniable fact that it has no longer been superior o.k. yet. I surely have performed many video games on the two Wii and PS3 and am no longer very inspired with the point of accuracy of the action administration. To me, the Wii's action sensing factor only makes doing a similar issues we've continually finished in video games extra problematic and complicated. The lone exception i've got considered became Blazing Angels the place you utilize the distant and nunchuck to fly the airplane. that surely worked properly and the photos surely regarded good. maximum Wii video games have undesirable photos while in comparison with the Xbox 360 and PS3. in case you like an ingenious game console the place you quite do some thing diverse in video games and it very as a rule works as marketed, get a DS fairly of a Wii. Then get a 360 for enjoying video games on your television.

look let's be honest, wii is a consoles for children and most of the grown up games are remakes or 360 already have them. plus people look stupid waving there arms for the character to do something. ps3 doesn't have not one good game worth the price they demand. and 360 haves the problem that over heat. personally, buy a fan for the 360 and enjoy real good games. ohh yeah, you'll have an awesome Christmas man :D

How about a PSP 2000? It's always nice to be playing games while you are lying in bed, so maybe you need this handheld for a change. It's got plenty of games and when you're not playing you can listen to music or watch a UMD movie or check out your photos in your album. Dude, just get your own.

it depends, if you like more childish games i would go with any of the newer PlayStation consoles but if you like some violent games or childish games go for the xbox360, but hen again if you wanted something you could interact with i think wii is the best because its almost as if you are really there. but if you just the basic person who isn't the best at modern technology you should go with either any xbox or PlayStation. NOTE: PlayStation's need memory cards and other expensive items but the xbox is just a cool big memory box, also the xbox is known to have better graphics than all other consoles.
good luck making your decision, i hope this helps!

Depends:
If you are a "hard core" gamer, and want a "free" blue ray player go for PS3 with 40gb. $399
If you are casual player and just want to have fun, get the Wii.
Whatever you do do not get Xbox360. It's junk. It over heats and have lot of design faults.
