In the game, Harvest Moon DS, how do you get the 1st house upgrade? the second?

Here are the steps in order:

For the first house expansion:
1. Buy at least one thing from Karen's Supermarket for 10 straight days when it is opened. Tuesday's and Festivals don't count. This opens the number 2 harvest sprite channel.
2. Watch channel 2 at least once a day until they offer the table. Buy the table and wait for it to be delivered.
3. Once you have the table, Gotz's Woodcutting will add "Expand House" to their options. The first expansion requires wood.

For the second expansion:
4. Continue watching channel 2 everyday, buying the interesting things, until you have the kitchen.
5. The second house expansion will now be offered. This expansion requires stone.

to upgrade your house in hm ds, you NEED to unlock the shopping channel first (shop from Supermarket 10 days in row, excluding holidays) because you must have a table for 1st upgrade and kitchen for 2nd upgrade
unless, the option to upgrade your house wont appear

after that, just call Gotz when he's open and do like the poster above said

You just have to ask the carpenter to upgrade your house. Call him through the telephone and he'll tell you all the requirements needed for the upgrade. (i.e. amount of money, pieces of lumber,stone,etc.)
