Mr. Vick screwed Mr. Vick. Had he told the truth in the first place things would have never gone as far as they did. He's not just paying a price for killing dogs, he's paying a price for lying to the NFL, The Falcons, and his fans. He is the poster child for thug athletes and makes it harder for the younger players coming up behind him.

Major sports figures are role models for the young and impressionable kids who want to emulate their sports heros.

Unfortunately many of these players just don't get it. They are warned about it repeatedly from everyone in the business, from college coaches to professional agents, and they still cross the line and then pay a big price.

In any large group, not just sports stars, there are going to be some who just cannot avoid problems for whatever reason. But it is because of the notoriety of the sports stars that they get the biggest headlines. The same thing applies to all the other bad behavior of star athletes.

As for Vick, I would hope the thought of thousands of young people being influenced by Vick to stage dog fights, or worse, to kill dogs, is simply not acceptable.

Because the majority of people didn't like Vick in the first place, this incident just fueled the fire. I don't see anyone hooping and hollering about Leonard Little, after he got drunk and killed a woman in a car accident, or when Jordan Babineaux killed a dog with a hammer. Also, you people who say Vick should get life for killing dogs are morons, since when do you get life for something like that!

If Vick would of been truthful from the start, it might have not went so bad for him. And a animal can't say I don't wanna do this or that, if they don't do what their owners want they are most of the time beaten or starved. This is an old story, let it go, move on to something else.

Michael Vick set up and bankrolled a criminal organization for his buddies and cousin. It was like a small mafia family. It included drug dealing, illegal gambling, dog fighting, dog torture and murder. He bought a house in a secluded area and painted it camoflage to keep it from detection. Mike Vick is no better than John Gotti. He should be doing life in prison. But you already knew that, didn't you?

I think Vick got what he deserved for punishment ,but the media went way to far. I think the pro leagues need to step up more and punish every one who brakes the law, Unfortunately for Vick PETA and the like have a lot of media pull. A large percentage of the world are IDIOTS following the media like ducklings, not thinking for themselves (OMG if Pamela Anderson says it's so bad than it must be the truth.). I hope for Vick that he can come back from all of this and be a better player and role model. EVERYONE deserves another chance.

Yes. Dogs are more important than people. We've just recently crossed over the hurdle of accepting homosexuals into society and now it's time for man's best friend to become our life partners.

high profile athletes are often held to a much higher standard, they are admired and looked up to by their fans and peers alike, kids are drawn to their sports by athletes such as Jordan, bonds, and Bryant as well as Vick it's no surprise that sports elevate these people to a greater level of accountability and moral responsibility, animals as well as people deserve to be treated humanly especially by those who are celebrities, they excepted that responsibility when the became famous.

What he did is and was evil. He abused poor, innocent animals. Dog fighting is illegal, so therefore he broke the law. Gambling on dog fighting is also illegal, another law broken. He lied to investigators, another law broken.... what he did was not only illegal, it was immoral.
