#1 (Which one of these (memories) is the better one)

3GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz - 4 DIMMs

OR

4GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz - 4 DIMMs

Please note that one is 4GB and the other is 3GB, BUT the "MHz" is different... so which one is better? I need to know so I can get the better one of the two. Thanks.......

#2 (Which one of these (processors) is the better one?)

Intel® Core™2 Q6600 Quad-Core (8MB L2 cache,2.4GHz,1066FSB)

OR

Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E6850 (4MB L2 Cache,3.0GHz,1333 FSB)

Thanks!
P.S. The processor and memory would be for a WINDOWS VISTA computer. If that means anything.

#1 -Get the 3Gb ddr2-800. 4Gb is wasteful in 32bit OS (XP or Vista); 750Mb will just sit in the memory hole that is literally invisible to the OS.

#2- If you will not overclock, get the E6850. Q6600 is king when overclocked.

4 GB beats 3 GB, speed rating of the 3 GB ram is more than compensated by the extra GB of ram.
Therefore,
4GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz - 4 DIMMs

It depends mostly on what tasks you are trying to complete, but in my mind 4 is better than 2. So I would go with four cores if price is not a consideration. Although the clock speed and bus speeds are slower with the Quad-Core you will have modest performance gains, though negligible in some instances, because of the extra cores.
Therefore,
Intel® Core™2 Q6600 Quad-Core (8MB L2 cache,2.4GHz,1066FSB)

if u re using 64-bit OS, no harm getting 4GB, especially if u do stuff like video editing

however, if u re using a 32-bits OS or u game a lot, then 3GB at 800MHz is a better choice..

Reason:
for 32-bit OS, it can only read up to slightly more than 3GB of RAM, that's the limitation of 32-bits OS, nothing u can do abt it

for gaming, i believe every milisecond counts, especially in fps games, the 800MHz would remove the bottleneck, and coupled with a decent graphic card, u will get smooth graphic out of this...

for cpu part, i would pick the Q6600, and get the one with G0 stepping... why?? u can overclock like crazy with it if u ve a good motherboard, u can get higher clock and FSB than the E6850 out of it... and with that, u need the 800MHz ram so as to minimize the bottleneck

good luck
