Yesterday my doctor told me I was 1cm and a little over 50% effaced. (Been 1cm since last wk) Ive been having BH all day today but for the past few hours they have gotten more painful and closer together. They still dont come in a pattern, but I get one no more than 30 minutes from the last. Should I wait til they get 5 minutes apart to do go to the hospital? What should I do?

Ok if you can sit there and type, I would imagine you're not in labour.

When i went into labour i was only in labour 40 minutes. I was getting pains 4 3 days really far apart they wasnt bothering me just really uncomfortable then i started timing them for half an hour an realised that they were really close together like 2 minutes when i stood up my waters broke then my contractions started straight away they hospital told me to stay at home as if was my first i would not me dilated enough but i rang an ambulance when i got to the hospital i was 10cm an gave birth within minutes.
If i was you i would wait till there abit closure together or if the pain is to bad to handle ring them they should let you go in at least for them to check you out.

Good Look

If you think you may be in labor.. it's better to be safe than sorry.. and just go to the hospital.. the nurses will be able to tell if your labor is real or if it's false.

it's possible your feeling Braxton Hicks Contractions or False Labor.. which prepare you for the time when you're actually in labor.

And if your 1 cm.. there are some ladies that are 1 cm for weeks before they go into labor.. and other women who are 1 cm and the next day go into labor.

Usually if your less than 4 cm.. the hospital will send you home until you're further along.

Either way.. your simple and safest bet is to go to the hospital asap.. and just explain to them the pain your feeling... and they'll check you out.

But I'm going to also say.. when you're in labor.. you usually know it.. and so if you're not sure if you are.. then there's an 75% chance that you're probably not in labor.

But still .. go to the hosptial.. at the worse case scenario.. it'll put your mind at ease.

Good Luck !

P.S. I will add.. for me.. I was dilated 1 cm for about 2 weeks, before my water broke, and I went into labor.. and then I was in labor for 24 hours before my daughter was born.. and even then it was by emergency C-Section.

However, my friend who was pregnant at the same time as me.. she was dilated up to 3 cm for weeks.. and finally over night went into labor.. and had a baby naturally with in 8 hours.

so every woman is different.

If you really feel like you are in labor, by all means get to the hospital. Do not be embarassed if they send you home, it happens all the time, better to be safe than sorry. If you live a distance away from the hospital, I would go if I were you. Use your best judgement. If it is strong pain you are feeling, do not sit here any longer, get moving hon. In any case, good luck!!

Kinda sounds like mine was, and yes I think you are in labor. But with mine, it was still a while before I had my daughter. Depends really on how far the hospital is when you need to leave. Better to be sent home for a false alarm than to not be where you need to be to give birth. Good Luck!!!

Depends on how far from the hospital you live. Is this your first? It's better to go to the hospital and get sent home, than not go and wish you had. Contrary to popular public opinion, taxi drives and policemen do NOT ENJOY HELPING IN DELIVERY.
My doctor, told me "don't worry...you will know when to come"
well,I said to him WRONG....I waited until pains were minutes apart, went to the hospital and delivered 20 minutes later.

braxton hicks start of kinda bad and ease off normally within a hour. if theyre getting stronger and more frequent your in labor. call your doctor and keep walking it'll help you feel a little better. so yes id say your in labor and your water may not break at all so dont think its a factor. good luck with your soon to be bundle of joy.

If you needed to go to hospital the doc would have got you in when he saw you yesterday. Labout 1st time takes hours sometimes days. When you go into proper labour you wll definatly know. Just go with it for a few hours. It sounds to me like your bady is getting ready to d te labour thing. Bt this could take days!

Yes wait till they are pretty painfull and close together, the hospital will just check you and send you home. If you want you can call the midwives where you live and they will help a bit more then us.

Dae, call the hospital right now and find out; don't wait any longer. Do you have anyone with you? Do you have transportation? You are anxious and you should have someone take you to the hospital so they can check you out, do not wait. Go now.

just keep an eye on them, and i am excited for you. :) when they get 10 min apart then you are likly in labor, then depending on how far you ar eform your birthing destanation is when you need to leave. your best bet is to call your L&D.
and walk, walk, walk, walk!!!!! the more walking the better the chance of bringing on labor!!!! as long as you are 37 weeks but i am guessing you are. :) so good luck and i am sooooo happy for you
