Athlon64 FX 62 beats the E6300 here:

If you know how to overclock, consider the new X2 5000+ Black Edition that has unlocked multipliers. It can easily be made to perform like the X2 6000+ but at LOWER wattage.

I would personally go with the AMD, there are various models of the 64 FX series and depending on which model you are looking at in comparison to the Duo 6300, this could be a big difference.
All of my custom PCs have been AMDs. They are very reliable and seem to be are built better for handling video editing and multitasking. I've always had a notion that the AMD's processor architecture was superior.
But like Mmgirl said, they are both great processors and comes down to personal preference.

They are basically the same. They both have high performance for multitasking and controlling demanding programs. It basically depends on which one you want to buy. Intel is more supported. I would suggest the AMD for graphics since it was primiarly made for gaming. Intel is made for business. But it really depends on personal preference on this one. They are both outstanding processors.
