Q: Do you think the U.S., or U.N. forces, should have moved into Baghdad?

A: No.

Q: Why not?

A: Because if we'd gone to Baghdad we would have been all alone. There wouldn't have been anybody else with us. There would have been a U.S. occupation of Iraq. None of the Arab forces that were willing to fight with us in Kuwait were willing to invade Iraq.

Once you got to Iraq and took it over, took down Saddam Hussein's government, then what are you going to put in its place? That's a very volatile part of the world, and if you take down the central government of Iraq, you could very easily end up seeing pieces of Iraq fly off: part of it, the Syrians would like to have to the west, part of it -- eastern Iraq -- the Iranians would like to claim, they fought over it for eight years. In the north you've got the Kurds, and if the Kurds spin loose and join with the Kurds in Turkey, then you threaten the territorial integrity of Turkey.

Yes he did and that video is undeniable proof all the optimistic predictions of the Bush administration were deliberate lies and exaggerations. As the video clearly shows Cheney knew exactly what this war would lead to. But I guess that didn't matter as long as his pals of Halliburton got their contracts.

Are all Republicans Dick Cheney? No you fool they are no longer. Dick Cheney might have a short term reminiscence situation (it rather is while you're stupid sufficient to evaluate 10 years short term) yet maximum folk of something of the country became against invading Iraq (Republicans coated) in 2003. The war merely had a 30ish p.c. approval score. learn some thing till now speaking out of your butt.

I know! When I saw that video my mouth was hanging open like an idiot. My husband said "Close your mouth, you look simple."

Honestly, it was just like the Twilight Zone, you hit that right on the head. And no one can say, but things CHANGED, 9/11 happened. Nothing changed as far as Iraq went. They didn't have a thing to do with 9/11. And even worse, everything Cheney said in that video has been proven out in the last four years since our invasion.

It's amazing the flip-flopping Bush and Cheney have done regarding public policy since winning the election in 2000.

They thought that 10 years of United Nations policy under Clinton would have starved and impoverished the Iraqis to the point where they were a pushover.

What, do you think we left Iraq alone in between the Bushes? Nah, they were trying to soften Saddam up by letting 1,000,000 Iraqis starve to death, restricting essential chemicals like fertilizer and bleach, and bombing any medical or water treatment facility that got too advanced.
