There is no such thing as an organism being more or less highly evolved than another. Organisms are well suited to their environments, whether it is humans or bacteria. Survival is the only measure of how well something has evolved.

No, no, no. It is a total mistake to think that humans, or *any* species, is more highly evolved than another, much less that any species is the 1st or 2nd "most highly evolved."

This is really important! If you ever hope to understand Biology, you have to get away from thinking of some organisms as being "higher" than others. It is old, pre-Victorian thinking about life that scientists dumped 150 years ago.

Life is not a 'ladder' with one organism evolving to a 'higher' level. Life is a constantly branching *tree* ... every species (including humans) is just an end twig on one of those branches. No species is "higher" or "more highly evolved" than another.

That's strictly a matter of opinion, as is the identity of the first most highly evolved organism. Of course we are going to think we are most highly evolved because we are the ones doing the thinking. However, other species may have different ideas about that one!

Well, thats a pretty ambiguous question, if by most evolved you mean best adapted than humans definitely aren't first it is most likely bacteria or viruses. So then the second most evolved organism would be something similar to that.

But i understand what your saying, you mean intellectually evolved right?
Well so far as we know or think, humans are the most highly intellectually beings (>.>)...
So the second most intellectually evolved organisms would probably be chimpanzees since they share about 94% of our DNA and are pretty darn intelligent.

Your question cannot be answered.

All living organisms have evolved. There is no such thing as highly evolved. There is no ordered list.

The capitalist. (The socialist is the most highly evolved, as proven by superior healthcare in civilized countries to that of the U.S. run by rackets.)
