So let's says something I want is 2.50 right now with 2 people bidding on it. if I put one of these snipes on there for ten dollars will I end up having to pay ten dollars for my win or is that just a maximum? I think it's just supposed to help me win by a little over the last bid right?

"Sniping" means trying to outbid someone at the last second. Ebay will only bid up to the next amount over what someone else bids. So if someone else bids to $8.00 Ebay would bid your $10 using only .50 more for you to win it at $8.50 if nobody bid more than $8. However remember someone else could also snipe for more than your $10 so only bid up to the amount you are willing to spend and remember to add in the shipping charges when you decide what you want your final bid to be.

Your description doesn't seem to be "snipping" just eBay's "proxy bidding" system, because eBay realizes bidding system can not just copy from an auction house, it let you put down maximum of $10 cap on a proxy that bid on behave of you and that it kicks in $3, $3.5 etc when it senses you are lossing bid because the other guy is willing to pay more. and you pay only as the auction ends, be it any amount up to what you specify as maximum.

No, just whatever the final high bid price is.

So if you set you a snipe at $10 and the item reaches $8, you pay only $8

Dude, if you are the higgest bidder at the end of the auction, then you have to pay the final amount that you bid for the product. Rest of the bids are cancelled.

You can bid multiple times, if someone outbids you.

Remember, along with the bid amount you also have to pay the shipping charges which is decided by the seller.

Tip: Always take care to see that the seller has 100% feedback rating. You can view the details of the seller on the right hand side of the photo of the product.
